Audi to make just 99 units of the fastest road-going R8 ever - the R8 LMX

Audi has unveiled the R8 LMX - the fastest version of its flagship supercar yet. Packed with a 5.2-litre V10 that churns out in excess of 562bhp and 540Nm of torque, the R8 LMX is capable of sprinting from nought to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds.
Besides the blistering performance, the R8 LMX will also be the first production car to be fitted with laser headlamps as standard.
The light emitted by laser beams before they pass through a converter is blue, and this has inspired Audi to come out with a new colour for the R8 LMX, known as Ara Blue.
The crystal effect customised paint finish is also exclusive to the marque.
To differentiate itself from the lesser brethrens, the R8 LMX will have a large, fixed rear spoiler for increased downforce at the rear.
The car will also employ additional use of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) for a number of exterior trims, such as the front spoiler lip, side flics, and engine compartment cover.
While fans of the automaker may rejoice at this new supercar, Audi, reportedly, will make only 99 copies of the R8 LMX. The R8 LMX will make its U.K. public debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will be held from 26th to 29th June 2014.
