Audible and Amazon Music comes to the latest MBUX system

Mercedes-Benz, Audible, and Amazon Music have announced a unique collaboration that could change the way drivers will enjoy audio storytelling in their vehicles.

The new collaboration will see Mercedes-Benz vehicles incorporating the Audible and Amazon Music apps in its MBUX infotainment system, giving customers who have a subscription to these providers immediate access to a continuously growing choice of audio books as well as podcasts and music. For Mercedes vehicles equipped with the Burmester 4D and 3D Surround Sound System, this new move is said to deliver your favourite author, podcast host, or musician in such an immersive way that it feels like they are in the car with you.

Audible is said to offer more than 850,000 audiobooks, podcasts and Audible Originals in its global catalogue, and hosts dozens of titles in Dolby Atmos, allowing listeners to feel their favourite stories with high detail, depth, and clarity.

Rollout for the new feature is set to begin in the third quarter of 2024 via an over-the-air update for customers of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLE Coupe equipped with the third generation MBUX, while further rollout is planned for successive models in the future. Amazon Music in Dolby Atmos has been available in all models built since December 2023 onward with the second generation MBUX.
