Bentley demonstrates eFuel usage at Global Media Drive
24 Oct 2024|82 views
Bentley has recently hosted the world's first eFuel-powered global media drive event, aiming to show its compatibility with existing combustion engines by using its newest model, the Bentley Continental GT Speed.
Developed by an international consortium led by Highly Innovative Fuels Global, the eFuel blend used for the event was R75 (75% eFuel, 25% normal gasoline), representing a big drop in emissions.
The eFuel was used in both the fleet of Continental GT Speed and the supporting chauffeur fleet, with 100% renewable electricity used to charge its 25.9kWh hybrid batteries.
The combined performance of the new car's Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, eFuel, and 100% renewable electricity enabled a reduction of 93% in CO2 emissions and an overall reduction in carbon impact of 30% per guest despite covering 12,875km in seven days.
Guests were able to not only experience the dynamic capabilities of Bentley's new advanced dual valve damper, but also the advantages of the Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain's ability to use the e-motor to torque-fill at low engine speeds and smoother gear changes.
The Continental GT Speed has been certified at 29g/km CO2 and 92.3km/L, with its new powertrain offering 771bhp and 1,000Nm of torque.
