Bentley's Crewe site is getting a new first response team fleet, and it comprises of two all-electric models.
The fleet, comprising of a Volkswagen ID.3 and a ID. Buzz Cargo, will attend to medical emergencies at the firm's Crewe headquarters, and be placed on standby at off-site events. Both cars will be able to charge from any of the Bentley's 107 onsite charging points powered by more than 36,000 on-site solar panels.
Bentley states that the new vehicles are better placed to operate within the confines of the 16km/h speed limit in place at the Bentley site, since they do not face the strains placed on their predecessors' gearboxes and diesel particulate filters.
Bentley has wrapped with lower part of the body of the ID. Buzz Cargo to match the exterior of the ID.3. Bentley wings and the site emergency number have also been applied to both vehicles, on top of sirens as well as a light bar. The ID.3 will be used for day-to-day activities and medical emergencies, while the ID. Buzz Cargo will be used to transport other medical equipment.
Bentley’s Crewe site currently utilises 100% renewable energy and has been certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Trust. The site also hosts a water recycling system in its paint shop. Bentley intends to turn the site into a 'climate positive factory' that actively reduces the levels of carbon in the atmosphere by 2030.
