Bentley installs a Compact Full Spectrum Driving Simulator

Bentley's Dream Factory in Crewe, the same place where each of the marque's vehicles are crafted by hand, will receive a new Compact Full Spectrum Driving Simulator. 

The driving simulation offers a more sustainable alternative as compared to physical testing. The pioneering technology is expected to save an estimated 77 tonnes of CO₂ and up to 350 days of traditional road testing per vehicle prototype. 

The driving simulator not only lets Bentley refine its prototyping process through eliminating the need to ship the cars, but it is also sustainable, reducing the amount of CO₂ produced

The simulator has the ability to accurately assess ride comfort, cabin acoustics and vibration on top of supporting seat development. The simulator is also able to provide ride comfort evaluation long before the physical prototypes would have been able to, overall streamlining the process. 

It is said that the compact system will play a major role in the development of Bentley's forthcoming range of battery electric vehicles. The implementation of the system represents a significant advancement in Bentley's virtual development capabilities and allows Bentley to refine its core attributes in a dynamic, driver-in-the-loop virtual environment for the first time.
