BMW has announced the long-wheel-base version of their new 3 Series range will be unveiled at Auto China 2012 (otherwise known as Beijing Motor Show 2012) in Beijing. This was widely expected as the larger version is made primarily for the Chinese market as a chauffeur car.The LWB 3 Series models will carry the "Li" suffix like we've seen on the 7 Series, so the three models will be designated 320Li, 328Li and 335Li.
The LWB 3 Series has an 4.3-inch wheelbase stretch and will be offered with three powertrains. The smallest is the 184-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces 181 hp and 270 Nm of torque. The BMW 328Li will use the 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that boasts 241 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The range topping BMW 335Li is blessed with the twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder unit that generates 302 hp.
