After extensive renovations and structural changes over the course of five weeks, BMW Welt has reopened in Munich with new exhibition areas, a business space, and an innovative app that will let guests explore the museum in an immersive way.
The BMW Welt app, which will be available for download from the end of February, offers a raft of features from virtual tours, a digital AI avatar as a personal tour guide, gamification, and detailed information about the vehicles on display.
The app also provides offers and discounts for the museum's shop, restaurants and car hire.
The new exhibition areas at BMW Welt include the M Clubhouse, where BMW M combines the inviting character of a living room with the motorsport feel of a BMW M garage. The uniquely designed new BMW M5 by artist Fillin Guas is currently on display, along with a special sound installation that is said to bring the Nürburgring to Munich.
The newly designed BMW area features an interactive space created for the topics of Charging, the My BMW App, and RELAX. WE CARE. Groups can also play the UNO Car Party here via AirConsole.
From 18 February, the redesigned BMW Welt Business Center will welcome guests for conferences, meetings, and similar events.
The museum will also host events such as musical performances, the start of this year's Internationales Krimifestival München, and a reading by Prof. Dr. Hendrik Streek of this new business thriller Das Institut.
The BMW Welt Campus will once again offer a holiday programme, as well as the vr4kids road safety exercise. A new charging station for electric vehicles will be officially unveiled later this year.
Sandra Wittemer, Head of BMW Welt said, "With the reopening of BMW Welt, our visitors can look forward to new worlds of experience and events."
She added, "We have also made many technological and technical optimisations to improve existing attractions and offers."
