In the second COE bidding exercise for July, premiums for Cat A, B and E see a significant jump, with Cat A increasing the most.
Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp, increased by $7,699 (30.8 percent) and ended at $32,699.
Premiums for Cat B, larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, went up by $1,551 (five percent) and ended at $32,551.
In Cat E, the open category, premiums went up by $1,808 (5.3 percent), with premiums closing at $32,809.
The previous round of COE bidding earlier this month, which saw premiums reaching their lowest points this year across all categories, has likely encouraged both new car buying and COE renewal and as such, caused the spike in COE bids this time around.
