The luxury electric space is set to grow even more crowded in Singapore, as yet another new high-end name from China gears up for launch on our shores this year.
AVATR, a sub-brand of state-owned Changan Automobile, is slated for launch in Singapore, and will be distributed by Premium Automobiles in Singapore. Job postings on JobStreet and JobsDB indicate that positions are already open for sales executives for the brand.
Designated as the highest-end marque under Changan, AVATR (or 'AVATR Technology' in full) sits above even the premium-positioned Deepal, and was formed in collaboration with battery-maker CATL and Chinese tech conglomerate Huawei. The brand currently sells four models in China, comprising two fastback sedans, the AVATR 06 and AVATR 12, and two SUVs, including the AVATR 07 and AVATR 11.
Confirming the news with Sgcarmart, Mr Lee Hoe Lone, Managing Director of Premium Automobiles, revealed that the AVATR 11 - a mid-sized coupe-SUV - will be the first model by the brand to be offered in Singapore, with a targeted launch of the brand in late-July or early-August this year.
AVATR's Chinese site indicates that units of the AVATR 11 sold in China ride on an 800V platform that can support 3C charging, with the single-motor rear-wheel drive variant boasting a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 815km, thanks to its 116kWh battery pack. The dual-motor all-wheel drive variant has a century sprint timing of just 3.9 seconds.
Sgcarmart also understands that Level 4 of Premium Automobiles' eight-storey building at 281 Alexandra Road will also be converted eventually into the new AVATR showroom - but prior to that, the brand will share the Level 2 space that Deepal presently occupies. Premium Automobiles also has plans for an AVATR pop-up at UOB Plaza (similar to what it first did with XPENG) around the same late-July/early-August period, just prior to the official brand launch event.
Premium Automobiles has considerably widened its distributorship of Chinese electric brands in recent years, after its previous partner, Audi, switched to a direct-to-consumer sales model. (Premium Automobiles still takes charge of aftersales and servicing for the German brand here.)
It first brought XPENG and then Geely-owned Zeekr into Singapore in the third quarter of 2024, before announcing at the end of the year that it had been appointed by Changan Automobile as the official dealer of Deepal. The Deepal S07, a mid-sized premium electric SUV, was launched in March 2025.
AVATR will mark the fourth name in Premium Automobiles' portfolio of premium electric brands, as well as the second Changan Automobile sub-brand it represents here.
