Chrysler recalls yet more vehicles as problems mount

The latest recall exercise affects 365,398 Jeep Wrangler off-roaders built between May 2006 and August 2009, and is due to a poorly designed braking system. During normal driving, the front fender liner can rub against brake lines. Over time, the rubbing could cause the brake lines to leak which would result in reduced stopping power.

This comes after Chrysler announced the recall of 318,974 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country MPVs made between February and September 2007 due to improperly placed wiring, in the sliding doors, which can have the insulation stripped off them, and cause a fire.

The exercise brings the total number of cars being recalled by Chrysler over the past week to over 700,000, including almost 35,000 Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass models from 2007 that were also recalled due to an accelerator issue that was similar to the ones involved in Toyota's infamous recall scandal.
