02 Oct 2011|2,031 views

The Chrysler Ypsilon is mostly unchanged from the Lancia version, with the exception of the new grille and badges. Chrysler says that it is targeting the Ypsilon at the likes of the Ford Fiesta, and the Ypsilon will launch with a choice of two petrol and one diesel engines, all equipped with a Start&Stop system as standard.
The petrol engines include a 1.2-litre Fire four-cylinder unit that produces 69bhp and 102Nm of torque, as well as Fiat’s award-winning 0.9-litreTwinAir powerplant which produces 85bhp and 145Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.3-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel with 95bhp and 200Nm of torque. All engines come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the 0.9-litre TwinAir can also be specified with a semi-automatic five-speed transmission.
The two companies will sell rebadged versions of each other’s products, and the Chrysler Ypsilon will be sold in the UK, where the company has said that sell all Lancia products under the Chrysler name. Lancia will do likewise with Chrysler cars in continental Europe.
