Corvette Stingray lands in Singapore

Want to catch a bit of the style and power of the jet fighters that have been plying our skies the past month? You're in luck.
The Chevrolet brand is making a return to Singapore, and it's doing so with quite the (sonic) boom. But there's strange crosswinds in this story, as Singapore is the first country in which the car you see in the photos is being launched exclusively under the Corvette brand.
Head down to ION Orchard from now until 3 August and you'll be able to catch the Corvette Stingray in the flesh!
So, here and now available for you to view, is the Corvette Stingray (rather than the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray). Launched right in the heart of our island (that is, at ION Orchard), the high-performance supercar will be on display for members of the public to view until 3 August 2025.
And will you want to catch it with your own eyes. Now sporting, for the first time ever, a mid-engine layout, this C8 Corvette is said to wear its aeronautical and racing roots on its exterior design. Look to its canopy-forward stance, said to be inspired by F-22 and F-35 fighter jets and the world of Formula One racing.
Further aft, there's also a 3.2mm-thick glass panel to show off the car's engine - as you'd expect of any supercar - that is not just simply for looks: It also serves to evacuate excess heat from the engine bay.
The Corvette Stingray comes powered by a massive 495bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine that allows the car to sprint to 96km/h from a standstill in 2.9 seconds
Speaking of which, engage the afterburners and you'll find this American two-door capable of delivering a total of 495bhp alongside 630Nm of peak torque, which means you'll be able to reach 96km/h from a standstill in just 2.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 312km/h before the end of the runway. All this power comes courtesy of a massive 6.2-litre V8 paired to an eight-speed dual clutch transmission.
Got an SU-57 hot on your six? You'll be glad to note that examples of the Chevrolet Corvette heading to Singapore will come complete with the Z51 Performance Package, which includes handling upgrades such as a track-tuned suspension, performance exhausts, larger brakes, a limited-slip differential, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S ZP summer tyres. Sgcarmart understands that Singapore-bound models will also come with magnetorheological adaptive dampers.
The cabin of the car features a 12-inch digital driver's instrument cluster alongside an 8.0-inch infotainment system and you'll get Nappa leather seats as well!
And you'll be able to control all this from a cockpit that features the firm's GT2 Nappa leather seats (complete with eight-way power adjustment and designed for greater comfort over long drives) and a 12-inch digital driver's instrument cluster alongside an 8.0-inch infotainment system. And you won't miss those alerts from the RWR thanks to the Corvette's 14-speaker Bose sound system, although maybe most drivers here will make use of this to listen to their favourite tunes thanks to that infotainment system's Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Not content to simply gawk and want your own Corvette to pilot? Chevrolet (or more rightly, Corvette) has opened a new showroom at 1 Commonwealth Lane, Singapore 149544, where you'll be able to secure your own example from just $648,000, before COE. But you'll want to be quick, as official Corvette dealer AlpineMotors informs us that only limited units of the Stingray will make it to Singapore.
