He was out running an errand when his workplace caught fire days ago, escaping the ordeal.
But 45-year old Malaysian Tan Kian Eang was not so lucky yesterday morning. He was hit by an SBS Transit bus while cycling back to his dormitory, and was killed on the spot.
The fatal accident took place at the junction of Jalan Boon Lay and International Road. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for assistance at around midnight. Tan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Straits Times reported that the Singapore bus driver has been suspended, and assisting the police in investigations.
This is the second fatal accident involving a bus in a short span of less than two weeks. Just last week, a middle-aged woman was killed by a bus when crossing the road in Clementi.
