The Straits Times reported that McLaren will move to its permanent home at 5 Leng Kee Road, also owned by Mr. Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group, by the fourth quarter of this year. The premises will be renovated to reflect McLaren's corporate identity.
Eurokars, which is about to take over some inventory from Wearnes, will start off with a lineup that includes the 650S and 12C Spider. It will have new models next year, starting with the 570S, which will retail just below $1 million, in the ballpark of the Ferrari California.
Wearnes has sold about 70 McLarens since it acquired the franchise three years ago. Only one McLaren was sold this year, largely because the brand has yet to make a formal announcement of the cessation of its partnership.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kwee has acquired his first Mazda franchise in Australia. He is taking over an established dealership in downtown Perth for A$15 million (S$15.6 million, excluding land cost).
He says the dealership has been selling between 2,000 and 3,000 cars a year, but he is looking to raise that figure.
