Volvo Cars Singapore has announced the launch of the new Volvo XC90 SUV in Singapore, which will now be available for order via Wearnes Automotive.
A choice of two variants will be offered: The XC90 B5 mild hybrid and the XC90 T8 PHEV.
The XC90 B5 mild hybrid variant is powered by a 2.0-litre engine supported by a 48V integrated starter-generator, which offer a combined output of 254bhp and 360Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 180km/h and can complete the century sprint in 7.7 seconds.
The XC90 T8 PHEV variant offers a combined output of 461bhp and 400Nm of torque. It also has a top speed of 180km/h, but a quicker century sprint timing of 5.4 seconds, thanks to its additional electric motor. The car's 18.8kWh onboard battery also gives it up to 64km of pure electric driving range, and an impressive petrol-electric range of over 800km.
Described as one of the safest cars out there, the new XC90 is equipped with an advanced safety cage as well as a comprehensive suite of active safety features. By using radars and a front camera, the XC90 can detect if drivers have drifted into the oncoming lane and then steer them back into their own lane. It also helps drivers to avoid inadvertently running off the road, while utilising braking and steering to avoid collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and large animals.
Additionally, the new XC90 has improved suspension featuring dampers and uses its Frequency Selective Damping technology to adapt to road conditions. Beyond that, its electronically controlled air suspension - standard on the PHEV variant and available as an option on the mild hybrid variant - works seamlessly with an active chassis for a smooth ride.
The XC90's updated exterior styling includes a refined grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, as well as new wheel designs. It also features advanced Matrix-designed LED headlights in a slim, distinctive, T-shaped signature that adapt their light pattern to avoid blinding other road users.
Inside, its redesigned front cabin incorporates premium recycled materials into decorative panels, creating a distinctive textured finish. An 11.2-inch high-resolution, central touchscreen offers numerous new features alongside continuous over-the-air software updates. The Volvo designers have also added more storage space in the centre console and repositioned the wireless phone charger for better accessibility and convenience.
Customers who want to experience both the XC90 B5 mild hybrid and the T8 PHEV variants can do so by visiting the Volvo showroom at 249 Alexandra Road, or book a test drive online via this link.
