Ferrari chairman gets award for best manager

The European Business Press Federation (EBP), an association of Europe's leading economic and finance publications, has named Luca di Montezemolo, chairman of Ferrari the "European Manager of the Year" for 2012. EBP, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and is made up of 48 of Europe's leading business newspapers and magazines from 27 nations. The award is in existence since 1991, and is chosen by vote. Luca di Montezemolo was chosen due to his extraordinary work that has transformed and turned the iconic Prancing Horse into one of the world's most famous and successful brands, ever since he joined 20 years ago. He has also modernised the Ferrari range, returned the Formula 1 team to victory and doubled revenues without spoiling the brand's exclusivity even when, Ferrari has widely expanded to 60 countries.
Moreover, Mr Montezemolo has also improved the quality of life of its factory workers, with production areas that were designed by leading architects and offering special services to its staff and families. The Maranello factory has become a symbol of excellence, and won the title of “Best Place to Work” in Europe.
Before running Ferrari, Mr Montezemolo was the chairman for the entire Fiat group. Currently he Presides NTV, the first private train company in Italy operating high-speed rail services, and has managed its Olympic committee and influential business sectors.
