Ferrari has launched its latest sports cars, the 849 Testarossa and 849 Testarossa Spider, which will replace the SF90 Stradale and SF90 Spider at the top of the range. Both new models are plug-in hybrid super sports berlinettas equipped with three electric motors alongside Ferarri's latest version of its twin-turbo V8 engine.
Both models offer a combined output of 1,036bhp and 842Nm of torque, as well as a four-wheel drive system and torque vectoring that maximises performance. It is also equipped with Ferrari's ABS Evo controller, improving braking precision and consistency. Four driving modes are offered: eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify. In eDrive mode, the sports cars offer up to 25km of electric range thanks to its 7.45kWh battery.
From a styling point of view, the 849 Testarossa's flank is dominated by its door, with a three-dimensional modelling starting from the main crease line. At the front, a bridge-like horizontal fascia connects the headlights, while body-coloured flicks and the black splitter complete the lower area of the front bumper. Its rear is dominated by the two tails inspired by the 512 S, while its sculpted rear bumper underlines its sporty stance and houses its iconic round tailpipes.
Inside the 849 Testarossa, its cockpit sports many ergonomic features: The central sail motif with the integrated gear-change gate makes the positioning of components more accessible, while its new steering wheel is equipped with mechanical buttons, which include the engine start button. The upper body of its dashboard features a floating effect with 'C'-shaped air vents framed in aluminium.
Both cars also feature two new colours developed specifically for the occasion: Rosso Fiammante and Giallo Ambra. Inside, a new Alcantara trim called Giallo Siena has been introduced, designed to harmonise with the Giallo Ambra exterior.
The new Human Machine Interface (HMI) system in both models make interaction with the cars much more simpler and intuitive
The Assetto Fiorano trim level is an optional configuration of both models that is developed to maximise the car's dynamic and aerodynamic performance thanks to the use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre and titanium, as well as aerodynamic features to its exterior. This trim level also offers an exclusive livery available in two colours: Bianco Cervino and Rosso Corsa.
As for the 849 Testarossa Spider, its roof can be opened and closed in just 14 seconds. Its interior and exterior features are about the same as the 849 Testarossa, but the two elements that distinguish the new coupe is its rear tonneau cover bridge and the wind stop: The patented, integrated ducting in the rear bench behind the seats which helps minimise turbulence inside the cabin.
