Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Spyder rendered image sparks speculation

Following the media frenzy and grand debut of the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta at the Geneva Motor Show, it was a matter of time people were going to expect an open-top variant of the Berlinetta. Now, this may become a reality sooner than expected as a speculative rendered image by artist E.Milano was posted online to provide a glimpse of the Spyder variant.

Milano's rendering of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Spyder goes beyond just removing the roof, but also gives the rear end re-styling to look even more powerful and aggressive than it already is.

The standard F12 Berlinetta hits the scales at 1525kg and is powered by a 6.2-litre V12 engine producing 740 hp and 690 Nm of torque. It accelerates from standstill to 100km/h in 3.1 seconds and reaches 200km/h in 8.5 seconds.
Given the weight and aerodynamic disadvantages of an open-top variant, one could expect to see these times suffer by a few tenths of a second on the spyder variant.

Berlinetta's predecessor, 599 GTB Fiorano took 4 years to produce an open-top variant and thus let's hope with this rendered image means history will not repeat itself.
