Fiat has unveiled a new mild-hybrid variant of the 500 supermini.
The new hybrid variant of the 500 is reported to be underpinned by the same platform that is utilised be the all-electric 500 (hence the similar exterior).
But providing motive power in this mild-hybrid variant is instead a 1.0-litre three-cylinder providing a total of 64bhp and paired to a six-speed manual transmission for the U.K. This new mild-hybrid variant is also following in the footsteps of its all-electric cousin by being built in Fiat's famous Mirafiori car production facility in Turin, the original birthplace of the 500 in 1957, instead of the firm’s Tychy plant in Poland.
The Fiat 500 Hybrid is set to be offered in the U.K. with the 'Icon' entry-point sporting features including 16-inch alloy wheels, LED head lights and gloss black wing mirrors alongside bi-colour monogram fabric seats in black and ivory, a 10.25-inch touchscreen and soft-touch black steering wheel.
A 'La Prima' top of the range trim level will also be available, featuring 17-inch alloy wheels and a chrome door sill plate alongside eco-leather seats in either Ivory or Graphite and Ivory, as well as a bi-colour premium steering wheel.
As with the previous iteration of the Fiat 500, this new Fiat 500 Hybrid will be offered as a hatchback and a convertible.
Fiat states that production of right-hand-drive examples of the car are due to start production from April 2026.
