Lotus has added a new, four-door hyper-GT to its all-electric lineup after the Eletre and the Evija. Called the Emeya, the hyper-GT is said to combine the firm's 75 years of engineering expertise and set a new benchmark for how a Lotus drives and feels.
Aiding this goal in the Emeya is its low centre of gravity, thanks to what Lotus calls the 'hyperstance'. This, Lotus states, aids stability when driving, and allows the Emeya to set a new standard in the GT segment for ride and handling excellence.
The car is additionally set to get an electronically controlled air suspension system which is able to feel the road up to 1,000 times a second and automatically adjust accordingly to deliver a smooth ride.
The car is also said to feature active aerodynamic features including an active front grille, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. These should come in handy when users deploy its maximum of 905bhp offered up by the car's dual-motor setup, which also allows the Emeya to reach 100km/ from a standstill in 2.8 seconds (matching the century sprint time of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S).
And giving the Lotus Emeya the long-legged range necessary for it to qualify as a GT is a 102kWh battery, which can be charged at a maximum speed of 350kW. At that speed, users will be able to boost battery state-of-charge back up to 80% with just 18 minutes of charging or add 150km of range in just five minutes.
In the cabin, the Lotus Emeya gets four individual seats, as well as a premium audio system developed by KEF that gets Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound technology. The car will additionally get a 55-inch head-up display which can project directions and driver assistance system warnings across the width of the windscreen.
The car also makes use of a new sustainable luxury thread made from repurposed fibres from the fashion industry here, on top of the more traditional aluminium, Alcantara and Nappa leather.
Production of the Lotus Emeya is set to begin in 2024. More information on the car is set to be revealed by Lotus in the last quarter of 2023.
