Lotus Emeya logs new peak charging speed of 443kW

Lotus has inked a new record itself - except that this one didn’t take place on a racetrack, but rather, at a charging station.
The performance carmaker has announced that its electric hyper-grand tourer, the Emeya, has logged a new peak charging speed of 443kW, thus establishing itself as one of the fastest-charging electric vehicles today. (On paper, the Emeya is officially said to be able to support charging at up to 400kW.)
Key to these impressive stats, of course, is the 800V architecture on which the Emeya is built. All variants of the Emeya are powered by a large 102kWh battery, which is good for up to 610km of WLTP-rated range on a full charge.
The latest record was achieved in an independent test conducted by Lotus Al Ghanim, the official dealer of Lotus in Kuwait, using Lotus’ own branded ultra-fast 450kW DC charger. During the test, the Emeya was able to charge from 10 to 80% percent in just 13m35s.
But that’s not where this feat ends: Lotus is also quick to highlight the durability, reliability and efficiency of both the Emeya and its charger, considering that the test was conducted in extensive heat conditions in Kuwait.
Lotus also adds that it has begun rolling out its 450kW DC chargers across Europe, with Germany already ticked off the list, and other European markets to follow in the near future.
