Fans of the sport have been eagerly anticipating what the cars of this season would look like, and apparently Sahara Force India has become the first team to answer the question.
The team, via Twitter, became the first to give fans a glimpse of a 2014 contender after posting a profile picture of its single seater - the VJM07. Unlike cars of yesteryears, the VJM07 adorns a striking black livery with the signature white, saffron and green colours retained.
"The VJM07 looks stunning and the new livery reflects the way Sahara Force India is evolving. I've always believed our cars have been the most eye catching, but adding black as a main colour gives us a fierce new look," said team owner Vijay Mallya on its official website.
Despite being all new, the car retains certain mechanical links to its predecessor as technical director Andrew Green admits the technical rule changes have presented a big challenge to the team.
"It's been a massive job to accommodate all the changes to the power unit - it's the biggest change I've witnessed in the sport since I started in 1990. Cooling has been the biggest challenge with most of last summer taken up trying to understand the cooling requirements of the power unit, and how best to optimise it in the chassis," explained Andrew.
The VJM07 will be piloted by Nico Hulkenberg, who returns from Sauber and former McLaren driver, Sergio Perez.
The 2014 Formula One season will see the sport undergo a number of technical changes that has chief engineers and technical crew starting from the ground up.
