Forget rose bouquets: This is Merc's Valentine's Day G-Class
17 Feb 2024|726 views
Ever thought that buying a dozen roses for your partner was too passe (and basic), and that buying them a G-Wagon would perhaps be more appropriate? Neither have we.
But that's exactly what Mercedes-Benz seems to have had in mind for a handful of lucky customers this past Valentine's Day, when it launched this: The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Stronger that Diamonds Edition.
The romantically-inspired edition is based on G500 variants of the G-Class, which are powered by a twin-turbo V8 under the hood churning out up to 577bhp and 850Nm of torque.
Its name is no misnomer too. The car's exterior door handles feature embossed diamond logos, and a diamond insignia crowns the a uniquely designed vehicle bearing a silver badge. Meanwhile, the signature passenger-side grab handle, illuminated entry sills, and the black indoor car cover all indicate the car's 'Stronger that Diamonds' identity.
The crowning piece - or pieces - however, are the car's four stainless steel locking pins, which have 25-carat diamonds set into them. Mercedes-Benz says that customers will even receive a certificate from the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) as assurance that the car's diamonds were sourced in an ethically, socially and ecologically responsible manner.
Of course, the G-Class Stronger that Diamonds Edition is decked out in an exclusively-developed colour too. An edition-specific rosewood grey magno, concocted by the folks at Mercedes-Benz's Manufaktur department, covers the car, and this is mirrored on the inside, where the black nappa leather is finished in rose stitching.
The G-Class STRONGER THAN EDITION arrived this past Valentine's as part of a larger media campaign celebrating the timelessness of the G-Wagon. In tandem, Munich residents (and visitors) are even getting the chance to see the car at Studio Odensplatz by Mercedes-Benz till 2 March 2024.
Unsurprisingly, Merc has gone all out with its descriptions of the car, calling the special edition "a very special token of love", and then the G-Class nameplate itself "a brand of true love". It's likely many of us have will never fully experience true love, by these tokens. Nonetheless, we leave you to enjoy the campaign video for what remains a very special car - whether diamond-studded or not. Happy (late) Valentine's.
