From April Fools to reality: The BMW M3 Touring 24H
19 Mar 2026|55 views
Originally conceived as an April Fools' joke in 2025, BMW M Motorsports posted images of a supposedly in-development M3 Touring GT race car on its social media platform, which generated pretty insane numbers in terms of engagement.
As such, it’s yet another story of "you asked, we delivered", as the racing version of the M3 Touring - named the BMW M3 Touring 24H - will be taking to the racetrack in the 2026 iteration of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.
Inspired by the success of the April Fools joke on social media, the BMW M Motorsports engineers brought the M3 Touring 24H to life in just eight months
This model shares the same technical base as the M4 GT3 Evo, but is derived from the basic body of the M3 Touring. The M3 Touring 24H is 200mm longer and, including the rear wing, 32mm higher than the M4 GT3 Evo. The technical data of both race cars are identical.
Like the #77 BMW M4 GT3 Evo from Schubert Motorsport, the BMW M3 Touring 24H will also run on tyres from BMW M Motorsport partner Yokohama. And for this event, the model will receive yet another special livery.
