Grab Singapore announced its 2030 Transport Sustainability Goal, where it has committed to operating a full fleet running on cleaner energy by 2030 at the latest.
This objective is set as part of the broader GrabForGood initiative, which seeks to positively impact three core groups, namely, People, Partners, and the Planet. As one of its first steps, Grab has unveiled the JustGrab Green pilot and Green Programme, which will offer consumers convenient ways to play a part in reducing their carbon footprint.
Available as a pilot programme from 14 July 2021, JustGrab Green is a new transport offering, which is serviced by a fleet that comprises electric or hybrid vehicles with a minimal VES banding of A2.
Some examples include the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro Hybrid. This allows carbon emissions to be reduced by an estimated 55%, as compared to petrol or diesel alternatives. JustGrab Green will be expanded to more locations progressively, and will operate under the same pricing structure as JustGrab.
In addition, Grab recently announced the Green Programme in Singapore, a region-wide initiative to provide consumers with the option to pay a nominal $0.10 emissions offset when they book any ride. To demonstrate its commitment, Grab will match the $0.10 contribution for up to three million rides.
