Horse and WEG sign memorandum of understanding

Horse has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with leading Brazilian electronics manufacturer, WEG. This commercial partnership is Horse's first as a division of Horse Powertrain Ltd.
The two firms will be partnering on the research and development of a new range extender powertrains. This powertrain will be designed for use in commercial and heavy-duty vehicles, and WEG will supply he key components for the technology, while Horse will become the system owner and supplier to customers.
Horse will additionally own the electronic architecture of the range extender, and will supply a 1.0-litre engine and a control module for the drivetrain. WEG will supply the electric generators, e-motors, and electrical inverters.
Horse states that the new partnership will grant it preferential access to these critical components for its fully integrated range extender units, allowing for continuous supply for customers. The new drivetrain is expected to also be able to use flex fuels, allowing the drivetrain’s total emissions profile to be comparable to that of a fully electric vehicle.
