Hot Wheels reveals 2024 Legends Tour winner
19 Nov 2024|131 views
Toy manufacturer Mattel has announced the 2024 winner of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour. This spot has been awarded to a home-built race car, nicknamed La Liebre. The car is set to be transformed into a die-cast car for collectors and fans to enjoy in 1:64 scale.
The builders of the car, Giuseppe Casagrande and Maurizio Moschini, originally founded Cars and Coffee Chile as a non-profit organisation to grow the car community and culture in Chile. The idea of building La Liebre then came about as a method to promote their organisation and engage local automotive enthusiasts.
The car itself is said to make use of a custom-built Chevrolet engine that generates 600bhp, which is paired to a five-speed transmission with straight cut gears. The car also makes use of a heavily modified tubular frame chassis, which gets covered in a custom fibreglass body, allowing it to weigh just over 900kg.
La Liebre is said to have impressed and inspired the judges of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour not only with its looks but its role in the Chilean automotive community.
Since its launch in 2018 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Hot Wheels, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour presented by Mobil 1 has grown from an U.S.A-based series of local Walmart events to become what is claimed to be the world’s largest traveling car show, bringing in builders and automotive fans through both virtual and live events.
