Swedish electric performance car brand Polestar has announced the winner of its 2024 Design Contest, held in collaboration with Hot Wheels.
Indian professional designer Shashank Shekhar claimed top spot with his 'Polestar TRX' concept, a bold interpretation of the brand's normally subtle design philosophy. The winning entry becomes the first Polestar in the Hot Wheels toy car series and will be available to consumers in the second quarter of 2025.
With Polestar's history of supporting and collaborating with aspiring student and professional vehicle designers through its contests, all entrants will be provided with guidance and encouragement before the Polestar Design team engages in one-to-one coaching with the shortlisted finalists to refine their designs for the final selection.
Since the first contest, it has highlighted top talent around the world, with many of the students going on to work for the Polestar Design team or in a similar industry. Now in its fourth edition, it attracted over 1,200 participants from all over the world, with judges instructed to seek out designs reflecting the playfulness of Hot Wheels and the minimalist design aesthetic of Polestar.
