IM5 sedan and IM6 SUV introduced in Singapore

Premium sub-brands are quickly becoming the new status quo in the electric sphere. Just ask BYD (and DENZA), Aion (and Hyptec), or to a certain degree, even Deepal (and AVATR). The latest member to join this growing crowd, however, is a name that Singaporean drivers have probably had a bit more time to get acquainted with.
Sino-English brand, MG Motors, has been teasing the introduction of its more all-electric premium sister, IM Motors ('IM' stands for 'Intelligence in Motion') for more than half a year, and at last, the latter's arrival is nearly in sight. To be heralded into our shores by the IM5 sedan and IM6 SUV, the cars will celebrate their Singaporean public debut at this weekend's The Car Expo (those at the Motor Show were left-hand drive units from China), with orders for both now already open.
The IM5 and IM6 mark the first models from MG's premium sister brand, IM Motors, to arrive in Singapore
The brand will be handled in Singapore by authorised distributor, Eurokars Group, and both the powertrain and specification details for the cars were confirmed at a private preview attended by Sgcarmart on Wednesday morning (24 September 2025).
It's helpful - and not wrong - to think of the IM5 and IM6 as fraternal twins cut from the same cloth.
Though likely to appeal to different groups of drivers with their individual body styles (keener drivers will likely enjoy the lower-slung IM5 sedan, for instance), the two models are built on the same high-voltage platforms, match each other almost equally in their cutting-edge technology, and bear uncanny resemblances on the styling front.
On that last note, aerodynamic considerations lie at the forefront of their designs. The IM5 and IM6 feature swooping rooflines, automatic flushed door handles, and slippery bodies, all of which gift them extremely low drag coefficients: Just 0.237Cd and 0.25Cd respectively.
The twins are also fronted by slim, curved LED head lights, and while single-piece taillights are now commonplace, the ones found here stand slightly apart with the way they trace the upper edges of the cars' rear ends. If you caught the duo at the 2025 Singapore Motor Show, it's worth pointing out that they do not come with the customisable 'interactive signals' fitted onto units in Mainland China. (No playful puppies to greet you then, unfortunately.)
Offered in Singapore with the same three variants each, the lineups for the two models start with the IM5 Luxury and IM6 Luxury.
Both are powered by a 75kWh LFP battery, and - crucially - duck under the power ceiling for a Category A COE, with a single motor sending 109kW and 450Nm of torque to the rear wheels. This setup enables the IM5 Luxury and IM6 Luxury to complete the century sprint in 10.05 seconds and 11.3 seconds, and gives them a combined WLTP-rated range of 440km and 390km respectively.
But for the best blend of power and driving range, drivers will want to step up to the Cat B single-motor variants. Dubbed the IM5 Sport and IM6 Sport, these are not only fitted with a larger 100kWh NMC battery, but also see their rear wheels powered by a more powerful electric motor capable of a maximum of 300kW and 500Nm of torque.
It's worth highlighting that the IM5 Sport is the ultimate marathoner of both lineups, boasting an impressive combined WLTP-rated range of 655km. The IM6 Sport, on the other hand, manages up to 555km (combined) on a single charge.
Both the 'Sport' and 'Performance' variants are built atop of an 800V platform, and draw power from a 100kWh NMC battery
Finally, drivers who want superlative performance should look towards the IM5 Performance and IM6 Performance.
Though powered by the same 100kWh NMC battery as the 'Sport' variants, the addition of another electric motor on the front axle sees output bumped to a whopping 572kW and 802Nm of torque. The consequent availability of all-wheel drive sees the IM5 Performance smashing the century sprint in just 3.2 seconds, with the IM6 Performance trailing not too far behind, and hitting the same mark in 3.48 seconds.
It's easy to get caught up in the numbers here, but the 'Performance' variants have a couple of unique tricks up their sleeves still.
To match the mountain-load of power available, these dual-motor variants are exclusively equipped with advanced air suspension that can variably adjust their ride heights - which are either raised for easier entry and exit, or lowered for high-speed driving. Also specific to the 'Performance' variants is a Continuous Damping Control System that actively adjusts the suspension damping, depending on whether a driver wants more comfort, or conversely, more sportiness in the moment.
Still, if you're not keen on dealing with all that power (and the hefty road tax bills bound to follow), fret not, as both the IM5 and IM6 promise a generous list of features and tech as standard.
Legroom should be equally generous in both the IM5 and IM6, given that they have the same 2,950mm wheelbase
One undeniable highlight is the availability of four-wheel steering, which sees the rear axle of both cars getting bi-directional steering of up to six degrees in each direction. At higher speeds, this allows the cars' rear wheels to tilt in the same direction as those at the front, enhancing stability and grip.
Conversely, however, the feature unlocks extra manoeuvrability at lower speeds, giving the IM5 and IM6 turning radiuses of a mere 4.99 metres and 5.09 metres respectively - impressive figures considering that both cars have a sizeable 2,950mm wheelbase.
The system has even allowed IM Motors to create what it calls a 'Crab Walking Mode', which promises to simplify parallel parking or the navigation of tight roadside parking spaces.
The cabins of both cars put their own spin on digitalisation with the fitment of a large portrait-style touchscreen on the floating centre console
The modern cabins of both the IM5 and IM6 also underscore IM Motors' emphasis on intelligent technology.
Up front, digitalisation takes shape not only in a long single-piece panel integrating the driver's display and multimedia functions, but also in a separate portrait-style touchscreen residing on the floating centre console.
Yet another interesting tech nugget integrated within this system is 'Rainy Night Mode', which relies on a swathe of cameras mounted all over the cars' bodies to bring blind spots to a driver’s attention in low-light or rainy conditions. This works in tandem with a full suite of standard ADAS features - comprising at least 13 different functions - on the road.
And elsewhere, other features lend credence to the premium positioning of the cars. Included as standard are powered front seats with heating and ventilation; a 20-speaker IM Audio system; and acoustic glass on the front windshield, panoramic roof and four door windows to enhance cabin insulation.
Two interior colourways are also available - in either beige or grey - with perforated vegan leather covering the seats, and Nappa leather greeting your palms on the steering wheel.
When the time comes to plug your IM5 or IM6 back in after a few days of driving, you'll be glad to note, too, that recharging even the Cat A variants promises to be a breezy affair. Built atop of a 400V platform, the IM5 Luxury and IM6 Luxury support DC charging at up to 153kW, at which the state-of-charge of their 75kWh LFP batteries can go from 30-80% in just 20 minutes.
Again, however, it's on the 'Sport' and 'Performance' trims where the full technological prowess of the brand will be put on display. Riding on 800V platforms, the cars' 100kWh NMC batteries support DC charging at up to 396kW, which can see a 30-80% recharge done in just slightly over 15 minutes.
To sweeten the ownership journey for drivers of the IM5 and IM6, Eurokars Group will release an IM App alongside the launch of the two cars. This will grant them remote access to a myriad of functions, including controlling the air-conditioning and seat ventilation, locking and unlocking the car, and even scheduling charging sessions.
At press time, prices for the IM5 and IM6 start just slightly north of $230,000 for the 'Luxury' variants. In the meantime, Eurokars is gearing up for the grand opening of Singapore's first ever IM Motors showroom, which will be located at 11 Leng Kee Road.
