The motorsports hub will feature a 4.5km race track which complies with Federation Internationale Automobile (FIA) standards. A Commission Internationale De Karting (CIK) certified 1.5km go kart track will also be one of the highlights. In addition, the compound will sport car showrooms, service centres, retail, hotel, F&B and entertainment outlets.
Sharing his excitement for the project is Hermann Tilke, Managing Partner of Tilke GmbH & Co. KG, who commented, "This is going to be one of the most exciting motorsports concepts I have ever been invited to work with. I truly believe we can build a unique track for motorsports entertainment and cannot wait to get started."
Tilke is one of the world's leading racing circuit designers, and is responsible for racing tracks such as the Hockenheimring, Circuit de Catalunya, Sepang F1 Circuit, Shanghai International Circuit, and the Bahrain International Circuit.
Also tasked to look into the planning and engineering aspect of the project is Singapore's leading architecture firm RSP Architects. One of the challenges is to incorporate motorsports entertainment into the hub, and without forgoing the eco-friendly aspect.
The project is set to be ongoing, with the first phrase (go kart and race track) to be ready by 2016, and full completion due in 2018.
