Jeep has announced that it has started production of the upcoming third gen Compass, built on the STLA Medium platform, at its Melfi plant.
The new Compass will present customers with a wide range of options, from a 143bhp e-hybrid to a 192bhp e-hybrid plug-in. This also includes fully electric variants that deliver up to 276kW, come with all-wheel drive, and offer a range of 650km.
At its Melfi plant, thanks to an ultra-flexible assembly line, the plant can adapt in real time to market demand, adjusting the mix of vehicles produced, up to 100% BEV if necessary. In addition, its full-cycle integration, from stamping to painting, plastics, assembly, and battery production, makes it one of the most advanced and flexible automotive plants on the continent.
Jeep has said that units produced in Melfi will be marketed in 60 Countries worldwide in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, and will set new benchmarks in its segment globally.
