Jeep has introduced the latest evolution of its Compass, which will be produced at its Melfi plant in Italy, reinforcing its commitment to localised European manufacturing.
Built upon the Stellantis STLA Medium platform, the latest Compass is claimed to guarantee exceptional driving range, rapid charging capabilities, optimal efficiency, and high performance without compromising on affordability.
Its design sports iconic Jeep features such as the seven-slot grille, trapezoidal wheel arches, and rugged cladding. The new Jeep Compass has also been engineered with functionality and safety in mind, with the addition of the Anti-scratch modular Jeep shield and reinforced bumpers. Furthermore, the vehicle's radar has been repositioned to avoid damage in tight spaces or when encountering obstacles.
The new Compass is available in six colours, with Hawaii as its launch colour, a bright green inspired by the tropical islands. Other colours include Pacific (blue), Antarctica (white), Amazonia (brownish green), Yosemite (grey), and Vulcano (black).
As one of the most compact vehicles manufactured using the STLA Medium Platform, the new Compass offers more interior space, with 55mm of additional leg room, a larger 34-litre front interior storage compartment, an increased boot capacity of 45-litres that can go up to 550-litres, and 40:20:40 rear seat split that will be standard on all versions.
On the inside, the new Jeep Compass sports a new 16-inch infotainment system, with connected services ensuring that the vehicle will receive over-the-air updates throughout its lifecycle. Level 2 autonomous driving will also be available, with all the aforementioned features coming as standard on the entire lineup.
Five powertrain variants will also be available for the Jeep Compass: A 143bhp 48V mild hybrid variant, a 192bhp PHEV variant, and three BEV variants with output ranging from 210bhp (FWD) to 370bhp (AWD). To achieve the latter (370bhp), Jeep added an electric motor that provides an additional 49kW (66bhp) and up to 232Nm of torque that, coupled with a 14:1 rear reducer, can translate to up to 3,100Nm at its rear wheels in situations where maximum traction is required (such as when offroading).
Charging capacity is also up to the higher level, with a rapid 160kW DC solution offering a 30 minute 20% to 80% recharging time, and an onboard charger that can support AC charging at up to 22kW. The most efficient BEV variant of the Compass can also travel up to 650km on a single charge.
A limited-time special offer is also available for the Jeep Compass, called the First Edition model. From the outset, customers can choose between two powertrain variants: Either the mild hybrid 143bhp variant, or the fully-electric 201bhp, with the latter featuring FWD and a driving range of 500km.
This First Edition model boasts features such as up to 20-inch wheels, LED matrix head lights, standard cloth and vinyl heated seats with six-way manual adjustment and two-way driver lumbar adjustment, and Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities. An optional package will include amenities such as ventilated and massaging seats, an open-air sunroof, and semi-automated lane change assistance.
Jeep has said that the First Edition is available for order now, with deliveries in the U.S.A set to begin in Q4 2025.
