Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that its new plant in Itatiaia, Brazil, will host the production of the all new Land Rover Discovery Sport. Starting from 2016, the R$750 million (approximately S$400 million) facility will have an annual production capacity of 24,000 and will cater specifically for the Brazilian market.
One of the main reasons behind the selection of the location is its access to the local supply base and skilled workforce. Close to 1,000 jobs will be created across the local supply chain.
The organisation is committed to its ambitious plans for increasing the manufacturing footprint of the company to create additional capacity. This new manufacturing facility will play an important role in supporting the significant growth opportunity identified in Brazil and across other South American markets.
