JMEV Elight lights up Tampines Mall for the New Year

The turn of the year always brings with it the promise of renewal, and the chance for fresh discovery and growth.

And over the next week, the chance for fresh discovery is exactly what residents in the East will be presented with, as an exciting new face within Singapore's car scene rolls into Tampines Mall as part of the latest Sgcarmart Premium Brand Showcase: The JMEV Elight.

The brainchild of Groupe Renault and Jiangling Motors Corporation Group, the JMEV Elight is one of the most bang-for-buck electric sedans you can find today 

Fret not if the name is still unfamiliar to you. First launched in July 2025, the Elight is the first model from Chinese electric brand, JMEV, to have touched down on our shores. In turn, JMEV stands as a joint venture between French carmaker Renault as well as Jiangling Motors Corporation Group, a Chinese state-owned automotive group headquartered in Nanchang, Jiangxi.

Rising on the combined might of both entities, the JMEV Elight won't just win you over with its stylish silhouette; it also boasts a number of sensible qualities that speak to the car-manufacturing know-how of both its French and Chinese parents. In fact, those who have been following Sgcarmart's Car of the Year Awards 2025 might know that the Elight was recently crowned as the Best Newcomer of the year, edging out a number of other fresh faces to clinch the award.

But before we get into those, arguably most enticing is the Elight's virtually unbeatable value.

Retailing at just $158,777 (inclusive of COE, and accurate at time of writing), the Elight is one of the cheapest electric sedans you can buy today. In fact, authorised distributor Valor Auto points out that when spread out over a period of 10 years, you'd be paying just $44 a day to be a proud owner.

And you'd have quite a fair bit to be proud of for something priced so competitively. There's the Elight's sleek styling for starters, with its clean sheet metal, angular light signatures up front that you'll find mirrored at the rear, and its flushed door handles. The car's sloping roofline at the rear also calls to mind that of a four-door coupe.

Climb aboard and you'll be treated to a thoughtfully laid-out cabin, as well as pleasing materials and features that you might be surprised to find at this price point. (In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find that dual-tone beige/blue upholstery on any other car today in the Elight's price bracket.)

Despite its budget-positioning, the Elight comes with cool features including dual moonroofs

Offered as standard are front seats with six-way electrical adjustment, dual panoramic moonroofs, a wireless charging tray, and a six-speaker sound system. 

The Elight also treats you to a good spread of digital real estate - it gets a 7.0-inch driver's display and a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support - but doesn't forget intuitive physical controls for your air-conditioning.

But beyond these creature comforts, the Elight is also a highly practical sedan.

A completely flat rear floor and its 2,750mm wheelbase mean that passengers in the rear will not be wanting for legroom, while the car's 410-litre boot is well-sized.

Best of all, the Elight promises to go the distance too. Its 63kWh battery gives it a combined WLTP-rated 460km of driving range on a full charge, with this figure rising all the way to 600km in urban conditions.

What's more, drivers can look forward to a peppy and smooth ride too, thanks to the Elight's single electric motor that puts out 108kW (145bhp) and 225Nm of instant torque. And while they're on the road, handy safety assistance features including blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic assist, and a 360-degree surround view camera also promise to take the stress out of driving and parking.

Other features offered on the Elight include a digital rearview camera and six-way adjustable powered front seats 

To sweeten the deal for drivers seeking a new ride for the new year, Valor Auto has prepared a host of deals for this period. These include a special $5,000 year-end promotion, up to $15,000 in trade-in discounts, as well as a $13,000 finance and insurance discount.

New owners can also look forward to a lifetime battery warranty on their Elights, as well as six years of free servicing.
