BMW 1 Series Hatchback
Price: $239,888
Distributor: Performance Motors | Eurokars Auto

Singaporeans love a Cat A car, and with COE prices as they are, it's not hard to see why. With a plethora of options out there that all cost a pretty penny, buyers have earned the right to be picky.
But if you're in the mood to pay a bit more, the BMW 1 Series deserves a spot on your list.
Although the overall silhouette remains similar, what the current fourth gen model has over its predecessor is sharper angles all round, lower positioned kidney grilles, smaller headlamps, and larger air intakes.
And the upgrades continue on inside, with a full revamp making it look neater and more resolved. For instance, the Curved Display now houses both the instrument cluster and infotainment screens together, while the air-con vents are minimised to the point of being mere slats on the dash.
Despite falling into the Cat A category, the 116 offers more performance than before, with its turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine coughing up 121bhp and 230Nm of torque. But where it shines is when the road gets curvy, with the BMW engineers slapping on solid axle mounts, highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts in the front and rear, and a new front strut brace.
While some may find a gripe with the design of the new 1 Series, or the fact that the wheelbase remains the same, one cannot deny that the combination of its well-judged chassis tuning and accurate steering, along with a bump in torque, result in a hatchback that spurs the driver to take it for a longer spin. And given its sensible day-to-day practicality and high build quality, it's plenty deserving of being the top dog in its segment. |

Honda Civic Hybrid
Price: $237,999
Distributor: Kah Motor
|
|
|
The Honda Civic is, by name alone, an iconic model and a bona fide legend. But the last time a Civic Hybrid was sold here in Singapore (2012), it didn't fare well in the local market.
So, how did this model, which celebrated its local launch in December 2024, fare?
Well, the fact that it's where it is right now says a lot. And one can be forgiven for thinking that it's a sportier version. After all, the front end gives off Type-R vibes, a honeycomb covers the grille and air-intake, and it has a sportier rear bumper and spoiler too.
Inside, the only thing that screams “sporty” is the relatively low seating position. But it does have more features than its non-hybrid counterpart, and since both cars' backseats are identical, the Civic Hybrid also offers plush surfaces and plenty of legroom.
In terms of power, beneath the Civic Hybrid's bonnet is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. And drivers concerned about the environment will rejoice at this fact: The Civic Hybrid reduces consumption and emissions by having the electric powertrain either propel the car by itself, help the engine, or a combination of both. In addition, in the right conditions and with enough charge in the battery, the car runs on electricity alone.
And with an output of 141bhp from the petrol engine and the electric motor delivering up to 135kW and 315Nm of torque, the Civic Hybrid feels effortless, even off the line. |

Toyota Camry Hybrid
Price: $265,888
Distributor: Borneo Motors
|
|
|
The 'Camry' name holds a lot of weight, and Toyota's ninth generation hybrid model certainly lives up to the bill: Light on its feet and heavy on features.
Ample luxury features, a solid fit and finish, and genuine leather all around the cabin means that the Toyota Camry Hybrid holds its own, even against cars one class above its segment.
The features don't just stop there: Toyota's new voice agent allows you to command your car with panache. Electric and ventilated seats contribute to the comfort factor, while upgraded safety systems ensure peace of mind. These are just some of the many creature comforts that the Camry Hybrid offers.
But arguably the icing on the cake has to be the middle armrest with a control system at the rear, allowing one to adjust the infotainment system, climate controls, seat adjustments, and even activate the standard electric rear sunshade.
Camry Hybrid passengers will also find that space is definitely not something it lacks. Its back seat easily fits three, with ample legroom and reasonable shoulder and headroom. Maybe it'll finally make the middle seat seem somewhat desirable.
A 2.5-litre hybrid engine pushes out 224bhp and 221Nm of torque, but more relevant is the fact that the Camry also sips lightly on fuel – the fuel efficiency of Toyota's hybrid system is well-established. And because the Camry Hybrid is well insulated against external noise, more often than not, one will probably find themselves cruising in delightful comfort. |

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
Price: $248,888
Distributor: Performance Motors | Eurokars Auto
|
|
|
In an ever-changing automotive world, with electric vehicles gaining momentum and SUVs increasing in popularity, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe still manages to stand its ground and make a pretty good name for itself.
A sleek exterior and upgraded power make it a great option for those seeking style and sporty flair. Granted, it sports the same UKL2 platform as its predecessor, but changes to its steering and suspension, as well as an increase to the rigidness of its body structure, means this iteration has a lot more to offer than before.
And while it retains its 1.5-litre, three-cylinder engine, this 2 Series Gran Coupe now puts out a total of 121bhp, as compared to its predecessor's 107bhp, ensuring it doesn't feel strained when keeping up with traffic.
Inside, its 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Custer and 10.7-inch Information Display is powered by BMW's Operating System 9, which scores pretty high when it comes to ease of use, although it does take a bit of familiarisation.
Comfort is also ensured, with the sport seats upholstered in Veganza leather allowing users to sit comfortably low and offering plenty of support for their sides.
With all these upgrades, this four-door coupe stands as an appealing option for those seeking a compact ride with premium branding and a dash of sportiness. |

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman
Price: $333,888
Distributor: Eurokars Habitat

|
The MINI JCW Countryman has irresistible presence. The car sports chilli red accents, smoky black badging, and there's plenty of JCW badges all throughout on top of its eye-catching red brake callipers and circular quad exhausts, leaving all in little doubt about its performance credentials.
And its cabin is no different. Red accents and chequered race flag motifs adorn the seats here, residing alongside a unique rounded infotainment screen that is packed full of animations and graphics that are entertaining and pleasing alike.
Justifying all these touches is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four that can put out 296bhp and 400Nm of torque. It isn't shy about making its presence known, delivering its vocals in high volume and proving always ready to push this crossover forward while forcing a cheeky grin onto its driver's face.
But it's not all just about performance. The adoption of adaptive suspension means this crossover can deliver a pliant ride in its more sedate driving modes. And there's enough space at the rear to accommodate three average-sized Asian adults, on top of a 470-litre boot further aft.
If you're looking for a premium crossover experience that will excite and thrill, this MINI JCW Countryman has to be it. |

The BYD Sealion 6 marks itself out as quite the capable family hauler. There's plenty of space for all in its cabin, and its 425-litre boot is commendable as well.
Further aiding comfort levels here is the presence of a panoramic sunroof alongside rear air-conditioning vents and some comfortable seats for all, on top of the car's supremely pliant ride. Those at the front, meanwhile, will get to utilise a massive 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen that is intuitive to use.
But what really impresses about the Sealion 6 is its drivetrain. Deploying a total of 215bhp, it ensures that the SUV feels effortless whether you're on the highway or jostling for space in start-stop traffic. And it proved mighty economical when we tested it as well. The fact that it also remains largely quiet and unnoticed during your commute just makes the Sealion 6 all the more convincing.
For its fuel-sipping economy coupled with its generous space for all passengers, the Sealion 6 nets our award for the SUV category this year. |

The Mazda CX-80 oozes irresistible charm with its large front grille, black rims, and elegant taillight arrangement at the rear.
But good looks aren't the only draws of the Mazda CX-80. To start, this SUV offers plenty of cabin space, so all seated within will be able to travel in high comfort. And there's more than space to look forward to when you step inside: This car is filled with premium features including ventilated seats at the front and a Bose 12-speaker premium sound system.
If all these are not enough, consider the fact that the car also comes with a competent plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Quiet and smooth when hauling the CX-80 about, this drivetrain further amplifies the comfort levels offered by the car's pliant suspension. The fact that it also allows owners to achieve a respectable fuel economy while driving a sizeable SUV is, of course, a welcome bonus.
Add in the fact that the cabin here comes with intuitive controls and you get a comfortable seating position that delivers a commanding view of the road, and it's hard to dispute the fact that this CX-80 is well-positioned to offer all that the large SUV buyer is looking for, making it our pick of the segment for this year. |

The BMW X3 returns with a completely revised exterior, now featuring more angular lines and cleaner body panels that give it a monolithic look. But if these touches are not prominent enough, the car also now comes with a tasty new illuminated grille.
And the changes don't stop there. This new car comes with a 188bhp 2.0-litre engine that allows it to complete the century sprint in a respectable 8.5 seconds. And its handling is equally impressive: Sharp turn-ins and controlled body movement are hallmarks of this BMW X3, as is its communicative drive.
Step in and you'll also note that the SUV now features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. Now running the firm's OS 9, it's a system that delivers both vibrant colours and an intuitive setup, so setting the X3 as you like it is now easier than ever.
Throw in the fact that there's generous room for those seated at the rear of this X3, and that boot space here reaches an accommodating total of 570 litres, and we think it's not hard to see just why this BMW X3 has clinched segment honours this year. |

Volvo XC90 Mild Hybrid
Price: $447,000
Distributor: Wearnes Automotive
|
|
|
Large seven-seater SUVs are quite a specialised choice. They are made for people who wants to fit everybody into a single car and go out on a drive, but at the same time, for people who does not want to compromise on style and driving performance either.
Seven-seater SUVs exist because they are able to offer something more than large boxy people-hauling MPVs. And the XC90 is the prime example - with its latest facelift, it has claimed the top position among its peers in the styling department. A grille that pops out in terms of visuals, sleek and iconic Thor hammer daytime running lights and a sporty, raised appearance - a large SUV doesn't get any sharper than this.
Inside, the XC90 is spacious, offering ample head and legroom all around, including a boot space of 302 litres, which can be expanded to a humongous 1,194 litres. Of course, with a premium, luxury brand like Volvo, space isn't just all that it offers. You get quality material including wood, textile and leather, creating a warm and cozy cabin. Meanwhile, entertainment matters are handled by the 11.2-inch Android-based infotainment display.
The specially tuned suspension with Frequency Selective Damping allows the XC90 to offer an incredibly pliant and comfortable ride. But don't assume that the car is a pushover just because of its comfort and coziness - with 249bhp and 360Nm of torque to all four wheels, the XC90 is no slouch either.
A highly capable seven-seater SUV with no compromise on space and pace - the Volvo XC90 is an all-rounder that truly impresses. |

Toyota Noah Hybrid
Price: $228,888
Distributor: Borneo Motors
|
|
|
The Toyota Noah Hybrid is one of the more popular choice of cars on our roads, and it isn't difficult to understand why. This boxy MPV does everything you expects it to - large and spacious, it will fit seven in comfort, and being a Toyota hybrid, fuel economy is pretty much guaranteed as well.
In fact, the Noah Hybrid is so popular that the previously Parallel Import-only model is now available for the first time from Toyota's official distributor, Borneo Motors. So, what makes the Noah Hybrid so in demand?
Well, this is a car that pairs impressive fuel efficiency with a cabin that will accommodate all the needs of your family with ease. Being one size smaller than large MPVs such as the Vellfire or Alphard, the Noah manages to be manoeuvrable even in tighter spaces, which is perfect for city driving here.
Equipped with powered rear sliding doors, getting into the second or third row seats is a non-affair. Second and third row passengers also get a separate air-conditioning control panel, allowing for increased comfort within. This truly is a car that is designed for comfortable commute even at full capacity.
Driving the Noah is an enjoyable experience as well - with great ergonomics and excellent visibility thanks to its massive window, the car is a peach to drive. While 138bhp from the 1.8-litre hybrid drivetrain isn't plenty, the car gets up to speed with relative ease. And the best part of all, it manages it with an amazing fuel economy of 22.7km/L.
If you foresee yourself ferrying lots of passengers, and partaking in long journeys, the efficiency and utility of the Toyota Noah Hybrid will definitely come in handy. |

Kia Carnival Hybrid
Price: $288,999 - $293,999
Distributor: Cycle & Carriage Kia
|
|
|
Not so long ago, diesel power offered an important edge - substantially lower cost of fuel, incredibly long range, and a healthy amount of low-end torque. But in today's context, you can net all these benefits without experiencing the potential downsides of a diesel car. All you need is hybrid technology, and that is what Kia has done.
The new Kia Carnival Hybrid trades in its 2.2-litre diesel engine for a cleaner and greener 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that is assisted by an electric motor. And it even picked up more power along the way!
With its massive new 'Tiger Nose' grille, framed by LED strips that traces the squarish bonnet and hugging its angular-shaped main beams, the handsome new Carnival Hybrid is easy to identify. Afterall, its design language has now been updated to match the futuristic looking siblings in Kia's stable, such as the EV9 and Sorento Hybrid.
Inside, the Carnival Hybrid has received a modern refresh, now featuring a single panel that houses twin 12.3-inch displays on the dashboard, replacing the analogue gauges that the pre-facelift had. It also comes with Kia's intuitive switchable LCD control panel that alternates between climate control and media control functions at the touch of a button.
With the seven-seater variant, you'll get cushy captain chairs on the second row, while still having sufficient aisle space between to get to the useable last row with plentiful legroom - even for adult occupants. With its 627-litre boot, the Kia Carnival is perfect for a family of seven and two to three full-sized luggage.
If space and practicality are what you are searching for, the Kia Carnival Hybrid will do it all for you, all while offering a sumptuous level of equipment and excellent build quality too. |

Stationwagon of the Year

BMW 5 Series Touring Mild Hybrid
Price: $387,888
Distributor: Performance Motors | Eurokars Auto
|
|
|
Stationwagons are popular in Europe, and BMW has always made some truly attractive ones, such as the 3 and 5 Series wagons back in the 90s. While the body style isn't the most popular in Singapore, its increased utility and unique style cannot be denied.
In the case of the current 5 Series, the proportions of the Touring also happens to be a welcomed improvement over the Sedan. With its longer roofline that tapers slightly towards a familiar rear-end, the 5 Series Touring manages a graceful and even more coherent silhouette.
Handsome looks isn't the only thing going for it - the 5 Series Touring maximises utility with its massive boot space of 570 litres. Knock down the rear seats and the useable cargo space expands almost three times to an incredible 1,700 litres. With this BMW, you'll never need to hire a van when you purchase bulky items.
Cabin entertainment is handled by the familiar Curved Display that you'll find on all modern BMWs. With the 5 Series Touring you'll get a 12.3-inch driver's display, along with a large 14.9-inch infotainment display. With wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, navigation and media needs are all well taken care of.
The 5 Series isn't a small car - head and legroom is already more than sufficient for the duties that one will usually see. However, the Touring's roofline means expanded headroom for the rear passengers, resulting in an airier cabin with increased levels of comfort.
While the base 5 Series Touring is far from a performance car - that job is best left to the M5 - the 50-50 weight distribution and wide rear tyres meant excellent control around corners.
Uniqueness, practicality, flexibility and a great drive, give the 5 Series Touring a try and you would realise just how convincing a proposition it is. |

Dongfeng Box Electric
Price: $149,888
Distributor: Volt Auto Pte Ltd
|
|
|
Cute, funky, well-specced and very affordably priced - this cheerful electric hatchback offers plenty for drivers to love. Singapore's automotive landscape has been invigorated with a record amount of new brands in recent times, and the Wuhan-based Dongfeng Motor Corporation is one of the standout brands.
Smashing into the market with a cute hatchback might seem like an interesting move, but with the value and attractiveness of the Box, it clearly is the right one. At just over four metres long, 1.8 metres wide and close to 1.6 metres tall, the Box is a decidedly small car, which equates to ease of driving. But even more impressively, the Box is probably the smallest, most affordable car that you can find with a self-parking system.
Like its name suggests, the Box is a literal box of surprise with all that it offers at its price point. Inside, you'll get a neo-retro styled interior that is more spacious than you'll expect. Lined with quilted faux-leather trim and soft-touch materials, the cabin is a comfortable and well-built space. The centrepiece is a freestanding 12.8-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, and you'll even get a ventilated driver seat. Despite its miniscule footprint, the Box still gives you 326 litres of boot space, along with ample head and legroom for three adults in the rear seats.
Powered by a single electric motor, the Box is well within the Cat A COE category, putting out 94bhp and 160Nm of torque to the front wheels. While the figures aren't particularly impressive, the Box is brisk and unassumingly silent. A range of 430km also means that you can go on road trips with the Box without fretting over charging stops.
With its affordability, the Dongfeng Box might seem like an entry-level choice of car, and indeed, it is an excellent car for budding drivers - but the features that you get with it, and all the space and utility that it offers, are far from entry-level. |

Your experience with the 007 starts with its mesmerising front-end, featuring a pair of split head lights with slim daytime-running lights taking the stage. Your eyes continue to trace the svelte body, leading through its tapering roofline that culminates in a tidy rear-end with a simple yet charming light bar.
Hop on in and you'll be greeted by a high level of equipment and countless features - the 007's cabin is a truly pampering space. With its decidedly long wheelbase, passengers get to enjoy plenty of legroom for a comfortable ride, and the front-row occupants also get ventilated seats. The well-built interior is lined extensively with plush vegan leather that is smooth to the touch. Entertainment is sorted out with a massive 15.6-inch central touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Behind the wheel, if you were to opt for the most powerful variant, you'll get 536bhp and 620Nm of torque, propelling you from 0-100km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds. For the more sensible ones, there are also lower powered variants, including a Cat A COE friendly Prestige trim. And the best thing about the 007 is that all variants are specced to the maximum by the local distributor Volt Auto.
The Dongfeng 007 is a high-tech luxury EV with premium performance, intelligent features, and exceptional performance. And above all else, it is a smart and pragmatic choice of executive sedan for the discerning buyer. |

IM 5 EV
Price: $222,888 - $314,888
Distributor: Eurokars EV Pte Ltd
|
|
|
When you're a newcomer up against two heavyweight rivals, you've got to bring your A-game just to compete. But the IM 5 has gone much further not just by offering more features but also ensuring that they work flawlessly.
Its four-wheel steering for instance, shrinks turning circles at low speeds while providing greater stability when cruising. And it also lets the car 'crab walk' by moving laterally into parking spaces, making parallel parking a breeze.
The IM 5 also has a hugely impressive interior. Apart from being well-made, the dashboard's three-screen setup is user-friendly and intuitive - even for first-time users. Cushy seats all around and generous rear legroom further raise the comfort level for all on board.
When it comes to the drive, the IM 5 Sport with 300kW (402bhp), and the IM 5 Performance with 572kW (767bhp) and 802Nm of torque will appeal to enthusiasts. Even the IM 5 Luxury, which has 109kW (146bhp) can elicit wows with its 450Nm of torque - the most offered by a Cat A COE model.
Whichever variant you choose, the IM 5 offers a polished driving and technological experience that's far beyond what rivals offer. It truly deserves to be named the Electric Premium Sedan of 2025. |

Electric Compact Crossover of the Year

BYD Atto 2 Electric
Price: $157,388
Distributor: E-Auto
|
|
|
Topping the electric compact crossover category is no easy task, especially if you're a newcomer. The fact that you're an entry-level model also makes it seem as if there's not much to expect.
The BYD Atto 2, however, has surprised and impressed many. The neat exterior styling extends to the cockpit, which is functional and well-built. Physical buttons enhance overall user-friendliness, and the infotainment is intuitive, too. Plus, the standard ambient lighting offers a dizzying array of colours for you to liven up the cabin.
The surprisingly roomy backseat is another surprise. You'd think that designers would be constrained by the relatively short 2,620mm wheelbase, but the space has been maximised, with the flat floor further enhancing passenger comfort.
The Atto 2 scores high on practicality as well. Again, despite its modest dimensions, boot capacity comes in at 380 litres. With the rear backrests folded, this grows to 1,320 litres, making it a viable load-hauler.
Whether it's passengers or cargo or both, the Atto 2 delivers perky performance thanks to its motor that puts out 100kW and 290Nm of torque. It's the latter figure that makes the car feel especially powerful off-the-line, enabling it to zip around town in silence and with ease. With its easy-going character, versatile and well-made interior, along with a smooth ride, the Atto 2 truly deserves this accolade. |

Aion V Electric
Price: $167,988 - $176,988
Distributor: EV Hub Pte Ltd
|
|
|
There are cars that impress you by offering value-for-money. There are models that leave you gobsmacked with their long list of standard high-tech features. But what allowed the Aion V to leave the most lasting impression was the fact that it also has features you don't typically find in this segment.
The front seats, for instance, are not only heated and ventilated, but also come with eight-point massage functions with five programmes to choose from. At the rear, there's an airplane-style tray table, and surprisingly, reclinable rear seats. Oh, and there's also a fridge/warmer so you can have cool drinks on hot days and warm drinks on rainy ones.
As a Cat A electric crossover, the Aion V doesn't have scorching performance. Yet it continues to impress with its silky, progressive power delivery (yes, even for an EV), which complements the pliant ride and quiet cabin, the latter courtesy of the acoustic front windows.
Aion probably thought these goodies still weren't enough. So, in Luxury trim, the V has a 75.3kWh battery. It's the largest in the segment, giving it 485km - the longest driving range in its class. To top that off, it also has a maximum charging rate of 180kW. With such a complete package, it's no wonder that the Aion V has been named the 2025 Electric Crossover of the Year. |

Jaecoo 6 Electric
Price: $159,999 - $199,999
Distributor: Vertex Automobile Pte Ltd
|
|
|
In a sea of curvy SUVs, the Jaecoo J6 stands out for being unabashedly square. Its boxy design and unpainted lower plastic cladding give it the tough, off-roader vibe that suburbanites are drawn to. But Jaecoo also knows that these drivers don't want to sit in an interior that's as tough as the exterior.
That's why the designers wisely ensured that the cabin exudes cushiness. Apart from the leather upholstery, both the dashboard and centre console lid (which doubles as an armrest) are trimmed with soft materials. Access to the backseat is made more convenient by the doors that open nearly 90 degrees, and passengers will appreciate the flat floor and generous headroom.
The J6 makes you feel as if every drive is an adventure. Initially available as a Cat B model, the J6 delivers 205kW (275bhp) and 385Nm of torque, along with a zero to 100km/h time of 6.5 seconds. With all-wheel drive and a multitude of driving modes for various surfaces, the J6 can take on anything that a concrete jungle can throw at it.
Recognising that most drivers probably won't go off the beaten path, Jaecoo wisely added a Cat A model to the lineup. This rear-wheel drive variant has the same large battery and all the creature comforts of its sibling, making it even more attractive. If you want an adventure without leaving the city, this is the contender to consider. |

The XPENG G6 was a revelation when it first arrived because it showed everyone that a tech company was more than capable of building a fantastic electric SUV. Buyers responded positively, with over 300 units sold in its first year alone. Considering the newness of the brand, that says a lot.
This year, the G6 became even better following an update that brought more than 80 improvements to the model. The exterior looks bolder and sharper, especially with the addition of a ducktail to the tailgate. Even bigger changes are found inside. The materials are even better, while the cabin is now brighter thanks to the new mood lighting. Both the instrument cluster and infotainment display have grown larger.
More useful changes can be found within the OS. The built-in dashcam gets an Emergency Recording feature, and owners can personalise their car's functions with XCOMBO, which enables the car to perform specific actions under certain conditions. For instance, the air-con can be automatically activated at a particular time every day, ensuring the cabin is cooled prior to the drive to work.
On top of all these, the G6's now appeals to keen drivers with the introduction of an aptly named Performance variant. Packing 358kW (480bhp) and 660Nm of torque, it zips to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds. The excellent G6 becomes even more compelling and a deserving winner of this prize. |

BYD Sealion 7 Electric
Price: $196,888 - $236,388
Distributor: E-Auto
|
|
|
In many ways, the BYD Sealion 7 is the car that today's EV buyers want. It's an SUV, but rather than being boxy, it has a coupe-like roofline. The Sealion 7 also looks distinct, which sets it apart from other similar-looking models.
BYD isn't a premium brand, but the interior will make you assume otherwise. It's well put-together, with plenty of soft-touch materials that add to the refined atmosphere. The standard kit includes a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 15.6-inch intelligent rotating infotainment display, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, and a panoramic glass roof.
Thanks to the 2,930mm wheelbase and flat rear floor, there's plenty of space for backseat passengers to stretch out. Plus, with a 520-litre boot and a 58-litre frunk, there's lots of room for your shopping as well.
Further enhancing its appeal is the fact that the Sealion 7 is offered in three variants. The range begins with the Cat A-friendly Dynamic, with 100kW (134bhp) and a range of 405km. It's followed by the mid-tier Premium, with 230kW (308bhp) and 380Nm of torque, plus a 480km driving range.
If you seek even more power, there's the top spec Performance variant. In this guise, the Sealion 7 boasts a stout 390kW (523bhp) and a mountain-flattening 690Nm of torque. With such figures, the Sealion 7 hits 100km/h in a stunning 4.5 seconds. Whichever variant you choose, you can be sure that the experience will be a satisfying one. |

ZEEKR X Electric
Price: $195,999 - $222,999
Distributor: Premium Automobiles BEV Pte Ltd
|
|
|
No shortage of new names today are attempting to stake a claim in the business of premium cars. Among them, China's Zeekr has arguably been one of the most convincing - and even the smallest member of its family shows how.
It starts with a cabin that feels more Swedish than Chinese (Zeekr's global design centre is located in Gothenburg after all). Plush leather abounds; brushed metal in rose gold lines the doors, the dash, and the seats. On this top-spec AWD variant, there's even a 13-speaker Yamaha sound system on board to bring the best out of your 2025 Spotify Wrapped playlist.
And while the X doesn't deviate from many other EVs on the market with its heavily-digitised dashboard, both its central infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument cluster feel thoughtfully concocted. The screens are snappy, the graphics are sharp, and the typography is pleasant. Most importantly, the user interface feels easy to navigate.
Even from an exterior design standpoint, the X is a standout. Eschewing the excessive smoothness of modern EVs, this compact runabout is all about turning heads. Lines criss-cross on its doors, and its front and rear ends lean heavily into angularity with their narrow lights and creased sheet metal. Smaller dimensions notwithstanding, this is something that a supervillain might take delight in as a runabout.
Its straight-line speed is also something that a supervillain might take delight in. A supercar-rivalling 315kW (422 bhp) and 543 Nm from twin motors allows the X to smash the century sprint in 3.8 seconds - quicker than a base 911 Carrera. After you're done with scaring your passengers, making amends is easy thanks to its hushed cabin and cushy ride. For a compact car, it's quite something to cruise around in.
We've since seen Zeekr bring the 7X SUV (already its bestseller now) and the all-out 009 MPV to Singapore. Once again, both are stellar takes on new-school luxury, albeit in bigger form. But the existence of the X is proof that Zeekr knows that luxury extends beyond just the flagships. |

IM 6 EV
Price: $225,888 - $325,888
Distributor: Eurokars EV Pte Ltd
|
|
|
Every quarter seems to herald in the arrival of a new electric brand from China, so it takes something truly special to stand out.
On very first glance, the IM 6 admittedly doesn't make that big of an impression. That's not to say that car isn't big - it's got all the generous dimensions of a mid-sized SUV, stretching out at over 4.9 metres long and nearly two metres wide. Yet its general aerodynamic shape and sloping roofline put it in the exact stead of the countless electric coupe-SUVs on the market.
Just a bit more time, however, is all it takes for the IM 6's impressive idiosyncrasies to start revealing themselves. The plush cabin arguably plays the first big part, especially in making the brand's self-proclaimed premium ambitions manifest.
Sure - a lot of what you'll find here is also present in other modern cars. But the IM 6 sets itself apart with the finer details. Note the sofa-esque padded cut-outs on its cushy seats, as well as the varnished wood-mimicking pieces on the doors. We'd normally take issue with a full-length glass roof without a sunshade, but from our experience, IM's work on it even allows it the one on the IM 6 to effectively dispel heat.
Still, the focal point, of course, is the car's tech-y dashboard. This comprises a never-ending 26.3-inch 'immersive' screen, housing essential driving information and infotainment controls, as well as a separate 10.3-inch touchscreen mounted on the floating centre console. Dazzling to behold, it's not entirely overwhelming to use. Here, the sheer amount of digital space available actually helps to improve the conveyance of information.
The second knockout arrives when you take the IM 6 out for a drive. The Performance variant, which rides atop of an 800V platform and gets dual motors, boasts all the bells and whistles expected of a range-topper. While its power is already staggering (0-100km/h in under 3.5 seconds!), more fascinating is its software-defined 'Digital Chassis', which mixes adaptive air suspension and a continuous damping control system together with standard rear-wheel steering. The result? Surprising composure and poise. That applies even on a twisty road - all the more impressive considering this IM 6 weighs more than 2.4 tonnes
By this point, you'll probably also be able to appreciate the IM 6 for its own design flourishes - such as its wide haunches, and the way its tail light nicely traces the curves and edges of its tailgate, for a different yet sophisticated look. In an era where raw numbers and feature lists are starting to hold less weight, the IM 6 holds its own with something more valuable still: The power of individuality. |

Audi Q6 e-tron Electric
Price: $370,999 - $456,999
Distributor: Audi Singapore Pte Ltd
|
|
|
Understated, but undeniably and inarguably competent.
These are attributes one would generously bestow on most modern Audis. Now, as the German brand starts writing its next chapter with models cut from a new, cutting-edge electrical cloth, the same truths remain.
The Q6 e-tron stands as a good case in point. It's the first model from the entire lineup to be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Co-developed with Porsche, and fully maximised for electric cars, the platform unleashes new horizons in range, charging speeds, and onboard technology.
To witness its full might, you'll want to take specific note of the Q6 e-tron quattro Edition 1. True to Audi's technology focus, its lustre comes first and foremost from its sweep of features. This starts from the outside, where latest-generation OLED lighting is applied to the car's head and tail lights.
Comprising two crisp screens integrated in a curved panel tilted ergonomically towards the driver, Audi's new MMI infotainment system - offered as standard - is also already eye-catching. But the Edition 1 bumps things up further again with extra goodies. A large augmented reality heads-up display integrates your safety assistance warnings intuitively, and even responds to how aggressively you're driving (mash the accelerator to watch the speed reading suddenly balloon in size). There's also a brilliant Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system - with speakers embedded into the front head rests.
Output is similarly impressive, with the 285kW and 580Nm of torque from the car's dual-motor all-wheel drive setup sending it from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds. Its WLTP-rated driving range stands at a heady 543km too, thanks to a large 100kWh battery, which can support a peak DC charging speed of 270kW. Speaking of which, long distance cruising is just as enjoyable as white-knuckled driving, thanks to the car's adaptive air suspension.
Still, it's not just in a straight line or over a longer distance where the Q6 e-tron is a delight. The Q6 e-tron handles remarkably for something its size, and possesses a balance that feels very satisfying - neither slipping into rolly-polly cushiness, nor cratering toward excessive excitement. It's a good microcosm of modern Audi, as well as what the Q6 e-tron does so well: Measured and long-wearing competence. |

Electric Premium Large SUV of the Year

Mercedes-Benz G-Class Electric
Price: $790,888
Distributor: Cycle & Carriage Industries
|
|
|
Merc's iconic G-Wagon has finally gotten the full electric treatment.
And once you've gotten used to the fact that it's no longer called the EQG (it's now the G580 with EQ Technology… an unnecessary mouthful if we're being honest), you can start to appreciate how perfectly the brand has transfused the G-Class DNA into the electric age.
First things first: This is not your garden variety electric SUV.
Dual-motor EVs are everywhere; tri-motor setups are not unheard of too. The G580 blows both out of the water, however, with a quad-motor powertrain: One motor dedicated to each wheel. Already, the resultant power is fancy enough. A peak output of 579bhp and a stomach-churning 1,163Nm of torque allows it to rocket to 100km/h from rest in 4.7 seconds. For context, that means that both in the horsepower arms race and in a straight line, the G580 has the twin-turbo V8-powered G63 AMG outgunned.
Perhaps more important, however, is the fact that the G580's quad motors build decisively on the original G-Class' prowess on both on-road and off-road fronts.
For added manoeuvrability, it's capable of what Mercedes calls a 'G-Turn' - which spins the left and right-side wheels in opposite directions, allowing the car to rotate on the spot. Merc thinks this could come in handy when trying to get out of dead ends, without three-point turns. Another of its cool tricks is 'G-Steering', which can control the drive torque of individual wheels so that the car turns around its inside rear wheel. Again, it's claimed to be useful for negotiating super-tight turns.
Both features might have real-world practicality, but it's likely you'll be performing them to impress your folks whenever the space allows for it. More likely to see regular use on muddy trails, however, is its exclusive Intelligent Offroad Crawl function - a cruise control of sorts for off-road driving. The G580 even boasts better approach and departure angles than the G500 and G63, and has a taller maximum fording depth too.
One also equates the G-Class with top-end luxury now, and the G580's cabin does not disappoint. That means swathes of premium Nappa leather, fancy ambient lighting, a Burmeister 3D Surround Sound audio system, and large, crisp screens. There are even cupholders with adjustable temperature that can keep your CMCR pourovers or iced long blacks hot and cold respectively. And of course, all four doors open and shut with the same, addictive 'thwacks' that you'd expect from a G-Class.
All of that brings us back to the question: Can the G-Class still feel like a G-Class when given the full electric treatment? The answer is a resounding 'Yes'. |

BYD M6 Electric
Price: $180,388 - $183,388
Distributor: E-Auto
|
|
|
If there's any car company that knows a thing or two about making a bang-for-buck electric machine - brimming with practicality and widespread appeal - it's BYD. Expectedly, its first seven-seater model boasts all of those hallmarks.
Since it arrived in Singapore late last year, the BYD M6 has absolutely taken our roads by storm.
For starters, it nails compact MPV essentials down to a T. It's not actually all that big and unwieldy, measuring just over 4.7 metres long and 1.8 metres wide. And despite its easy-to-manage dimensions, it's still capable of taking average-sized Singaporeans in its third row for shorter journeys quite comfortably.
As an electric car, the M6 excels too. BYDs are known for their excellent efficiency, and here, the 71.4kWh Blade Battery powering the M6 is capable of giving it a real-world range of more than 450km. That's enough for four to five days of commuting, which, in turn, ensures that you don't have to worry constantly about plugging it back in. This commendable range makes it easy to forgive the fact that its max DC charging rate of 115kW isn't the fastest on the market today.
The interior is a similar success story. While the half-digital half-analogue instrument cluster isn't as modern as the ones you get on the BYD Seal or Sealion 7, the M6 more than compensates elsewhere with its satisfying feature spread.
Included as standard are a high-definition 12.8-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen, as well as the holy grail of modern cars: Ventilated front seats. Just as importantly, fit and finish within the cabin is of a more-than-satisfactory level - impressive again, given the M6's budget-level positioning.
All that makes for quite the compelling package already, but the M6 does it all one better: It's even neatly-styled.
Sporting BYD's signature Dragon Face design language, the M6 doesn't deal in entry-level cheap-outs such as halogen lights either; both its head lights and full-length rear light bar are LED items. The latter even comes with dynamic turn indicators.
The sum of all these parts, then, is a seriously appealing seven-seater that rides high on value and practicality. No wonder it's gotten so popular among buyers. |

Electric Large MPV of the Year

|
ZEEKR 009 Electric
Price: $348,999 - $413,999
Distributor: Premium Automobiles BEV Pte Ltd
|
|
|
The Zeekr 009 isn't just a large electric MPV. It's more accurately a luxurious electric MPV. And a very luxurious one at that – slightly unnerving in the way its robotic eyes and slatted front grille glare down at you, and daunting in the way all 5.2 metres of it will jut out of a normally-sized parking lot. If you thought the Zeekr X was already a convincing enough exposition of Zeekr's premium ambitions, this the full buffet spread.
Looking for sublime ride comfort? The 009 comes with adaptive dual-chamber air suspension, an electromagnetic vibration reduction system, and front and rear lateral stabiliser bars to enhance the serenity with which it wafts about silently. Need entertainment on the go? There's a standard 17-inch drop-down OLED screen in the second row.
Want the best tech in the biz now? As standard, the 009 comes with a crisp 15.05-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and a nearly 36-inch augmented reality head-up display. There's even a hyper-attentive voice assistant ensuring you won't have to lift a finger from your steering wheel to see to functions including your air-conditioning, phone calls, and navigation.
Of course, you're probably asking how the 009 performs in terms of cabin luxury. Zeekr states that it's used top-grain Nappa leather all over - we're talking not just the seats and the dash, but even on the multi-function steering wheel and its gear shifter. Its second-row seats are also up there among the best we've seen from luxury MPVs, featuring heating, ventilation, massage functions, and all manner of adjustments you can make either from the door-mounted touchscreens or from your own dedicated physical controls. This is proper first-class travel.
One question you probably won't think to ask is if there's the option of your 009 packing more than 600bhp. Zeekr has even that covered, though; the answer is 'Yes', and it comes in the form of either the dual-motor Premium or Flagship variant, whose twin motors send 603bhp and 693Nm of torque to all four wheels. Quite frankly, who needs their electric MPV to glide from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds? (Though it's worth highlighting that a more sensible Deluxe variant arrived mid-year, retaining only the front electric motor, and cutting power output by nearly half.)
But then such is the image of opulent excess the 009 presents. The luxury world, after all, sometimes revolves around satisfying wants you didn't know you had. In over-delivering with the 009, it seems Zeekr has given luxury-MPV hunters exactly what they want. |

Performance Hatchback of the Year
 |
|
Volkswagen Golf GTI
Price: $273,900
Distributor: Volkswagen Group Singapore
|
|
|
The Volkswagen Golf GTI needs no introduction, and is perhaps the quintessential performance hatchback.
Across eight generations, it has continued to carry the torch for exciting, engaging front-wheel driven hatchbacks.
This facelifted eight generation model, dubbed the Mk8.5, continues to deliver equal thrills and delights. Power from the 2.0-litre engine has been bumped up to 261bhp, but otherwise the driving experience remains familiar – sharp on turn-in, exciting when you push it hard, but still docile enough to cruise about in city traffic.
This facelift also brings renewed exterior elements, such as the illuminated front logo, redesigned front bumper and lights, as well as reworked rear lights with more prominent illuminated elements.
While the cabin retains many of the same familiar tech-forward components, the biggest update is ironically a low-tech change – the return of physical controls to the steering wheel! Otherwise, built quality remains high, while there's still enough cabin space for the car to function as a sensible daily runabout.
Yes, with this updated GTI, Volkswagen has not reinvented the wheel (except the steering wheel, thank god), but the simplest argument here is that there's no need to. The GTI formula remains engaging, desirable and well-executed, and it continues to sit atop its segment. |

Performance Coupe of the Year
 |
|
Porsche 911
Price: $569,268 - $1,153,268 (w/o COE)
Distributor: Porsche Singapore
|
|
|
Few cars define the performance coupe segment quite like the Porsche 911. For over six decades, it has remained the benchmark by which all others are judged, and in its latest iteration, the 911 proves once again why it continues to reign supreme.
What sets the 911 apart is its rare ability to blend everyday usability with supercar-rivalling performance. Whether it's the increased power from the turbocharged flat-six delivering relentless acceleration, or the impeccably tuned chassis that inspires confidence at any speed, the 911 offers a driving experience that is both exhilarating and approachable. It is as comfortable navigating Singapore's urban jungle as it is attacking windy B-road with precision and poise.
Porsche's engineering excellence is evident in every detail. The steering remains a class benchmark, communicating road texture and grip levels with unmatched clarity, while the suspension strikes a well-judged balance between comfort and control.
This update also brings new front and rear bumpers, along with reworked lights across the iconic exterior shell. The cabin remains ergonomically hard to fault, with the new 12.6-inch digital cluster bringing additional digital elements into the cabin. And with somewhat usable rear seats, there's also enough practicality (for a two-door coupe) for it to be an everyday driver.
In a category filled with fast, flashy contenders, the Porsche 911 rises above by doing everything well. It is not just a performance icon - it is a complete sports car. And for that, the Porsche 911 rightfully claims the award for Performance Coupe of the Year. |

Performance Sedan of the Year
 |
|
Mercedes-AMG E53 Plug-in Hybrid
Price: $420,888 - $540,888
Distributor: Cycle & Carriage Industries
|
|
|
It's got four doors and a Mercedes badge, but the E53 is far from your typical executive sedan.
Under the bonnet lies a sophisticated electrified inline-six powertrain, but this is not a green-leaning machine (even if there is some full-electric range available). The headline figures here are 577bhp and 740Nm of torque, which rockets the car through the century sprint in just four seconds.
But beyond sledgehammer acceleration, it is the way the E53 tackles corners that most impresses. The AMG-tuned all-wheel-drive system provides reassuring traction and stability, allowing drivers to deploy its performance confidently in real-world conditions. And with a nicely-weighted helm, there's a level of steering accuracy that belies the cars size and weight.
Paired to that fearsome performance is an exterior demeanour to match. AMG-specific components like the illuminated grille, large air intakes, duck tail spoiler and quad-exhaust system gives it a menacing presence.
Inside, the E53 exemplifies Mercedes-Benz's commitment to luxury and technology. High-quality materials, supportive sports seats and an intuitive digital interface create an environment that feels both premium and purpose-built.
As the landscape of performance cars evolves, in no small part due to the increasing electrification demanded by tightening emissions standards, the E53 points to the future. While there's still further technological development to be had, right now it is already fast without being intimidating, luxurious without being detached, and engaging without sacrificing comfort - making it a deserving winner of the Sgcarmart Car of the Year Performance Sedan award. |

When smart unveiled the #3 Brabus, it was clear this wasn't just another compact electric SUV.
The #3 form itself is plenty eye-catching, with a sleek silhouette and hunkered, slow-slung stance. This performance model adds sporty accents like a more pronounced front lip, side air intake attachments, and even an air inlet in front of the hod.
Step inside and the Brabus influence continues. Sportier design touches, supportive seats and a slick, tech-forward cabin create an environment that feels both youthful and premium. There's also enough space and practicality to make it a realistic everyday car, rather than a performance EV that only shines on paper.
But performance is where the Brabus badge truly earns its stripes. With dual motors delivering instant, punchy acceleration, the #3 Brabus is shockingly quick off the line (it will outrun a Porsche 911 to 100km/h).
The low-mounted battery keeps the centre of gravity in check, giving the car a planted, confident feel through corners that belies its SUV form. A firm-leaning suspension setup also means that it remains stable and composed when taking on roads with a little extra verve. And around town, it's compact and easy enough to manoeuvre.
In a segment where many electric SUVs focus on straight-line speed alone, the smart #3 Brabus stands out by offering performance you can actually enjoy, wrapped in a package that fits seamlessly into daily life. It's quick, characterful and easy to live with—and that's why it rightfully earns the Sgcarmart Car of the Year Electric Performance SUV crown. |

Convertible of the Year
 |
|
MG Cyberster EV
Price: $305,888 - $320,888
Distributor: Eurokars EV Pte Ltd
|
|
|
Scissor doors, a soft-top roof, silent motoring - there's plenty unconventional and unusual about the MG Cyberster.
But then again, no one ever desired a convertible because it was conventional. Convertibles are meant to be different, to deliver an alternative sort of character.
And this MG Cyberster delivers in spades. It first starts with its stark design – a long bonnet, perky rear end and low-riding stance gives it a rather classic silhouette.
Pop open those scissor doors, and you are greeted by a cabin far removed from the rather barren interior of roadsters from yesteryear. Wrapped in lush leather and filled with plenty of technology, it is both a high-class and high-tech space. With the roof up, acoustic and thermal insulation is also pretty good.
But you certainly want to be driving with the roof down. Driven lightly, it is a smooth and well-modulated experience. The suspension is also clearly tuned towards providing a soft and pliant ride.
And yet, the Cyberster is also capable of a frenetic change of pace. Put it into Sport mode and it will frantically deploy all 400kW and 725Nm of torque, clobbering the century sprint in just 3.2 seconds.
Ultimately, regardless of power or performance, a convertible must first and foremost deliver that 'cool' factor. And with its head-turning looks, well-appointed cabin and cruising-focused comfort, it's easy to see why it's our Convertible of the Year. |

Editorial Pick
|
|
|
MG S5 EV
Price: $174,888 Distributor: Eurokars EV Pte Ltd
|
|
It might be indicative of the automotive landscape of 2025, but the five of the seven of the long list of cars considered for this year's Editorial Pick were all electric (of which two are large MPVs), and not a single performance-oriented car even made the cut.
And while performance cars may still hold a special place enthusiasts hearts, our Editorial Pick must also reflect the preferences and sensibilities of the wider car-buying population – after all, few people likely want to (or can afford) to live with the severe compromises of a hard-riding two-door sports car.
Which brings us to this year's Editorial Pick – the MGS5. A car that fits neatly in two of the most high-demand segments right now. One, it's an SUV. And two, it's electric.
The MGS5 stood out not by shouting the loudest, but by getting the fundamentals right. It has got a clean and contemporary design, with just a hint of sportiness, that feels cohesive to the personality of the car.
Inside, we were drawn to the user-friendliness of the cabin and all of its controls. With many brands going down the fully-digital route, we appreciated that physical controls for regularly used functions were still present. Ditto for the infotainment system – it's one of the least complicated ones we've experience, and genuinely pleasant and easy-to-use. Optimal packaging on its EV package also means that rear passengers have generous amounts of space.
On the road, the most distinguishing characteristic of the MGS5 is its rear-wheel drive layout. While the 99kW output is modest, 250Nm of torque makes for easy-enough acceleration. But that RWD layout comes to the fore while driving, with the car feeling sharp eager to tuck its nose into bends. That added agility is much welcome in a segment that typically does not prioritise the driver. It also makes tackling tigher spaces easier, with the car having a smaller turning radius.
Ultimately, driving this choice was the question of accessibility. The MGS5 delivers good-enough range from a modest size battery, has solid charging credentials, and makes a compelling case for electric mobility thanks to competitive pricing. And it is the combination, usability and modern EV appeal that makes it our Editorial Pick for this year. |

BYD M6 Electric
Price: $180,388 - $183,388 Distributor: E-Auto
|
|
After taking the Singapore market by storm in 2024, BYD has persisted in ruling our roads across 2025, marking milestone after milestone, month after month.
And while the evergreen Atto 3 continues to find new homes with buyers looking for competent and competitively-priced electric crossover, it was another member of the family that it ceded the honour of our Top Viewed Model to for 2025: The BYD M6.
Understanding the M6's appeal doesn't require the intelligence of a quantum physicist.
Compact MPVs enjoy interminable favour amongst Singaporean families who aren't willing, or don't necessarily want to shell out money for something full-sized. Simultaneously, consumer sentiment towards electric vehicles has only grown warmer over the past year. The M6 deftly ticks both boxes as the only model on the market still to occupy the compact electric MPV space.
It effectively undercuts, or goes toe-to-toe against more established hybrid names from Japan in price. But unlike them, it's able to serve up the joys of full electrification (smoother drives, lower running costs), while also trading in BYD's unrivalled ability to offer premium features you wouldn't have expected in a mass-market family car five years ago. There's no doubt that those ventilated front seats have brought relief to many M6 drivers and their shotgun passengers on sweltering days this year.
As the tide increasingly shifts electric in Singapore, you'll note that that attention - and success – tend to follow the brands that demonstrate the keenest awareness of what buyers in the market are on the hunt for. The M6, as a thoroughly competent electric seven-seater, certainly speaks to a huge demographic here: One that comprises families seeking out three rows of seats, but who are also curious about full electrification, and who prioritise value and versatility.
It's no wonder, then, that it's become Sgcarmart's Top Viewed Model of 2025. In the absence of direct rivals still, don't be surprised to see it continue attracting clicks and eyeballs. |

Most Improved Car of the Year
|
|
|
Subaru Forester e-BOXER Hybrid
Price: $199,800 Distributor: Motor Image Enterprises
|
|
The Subaru Forester earns the title of Most Improved Car of the Year for good reason — it represents a remarkable evolution of a beloved SUV, addressing long-standing criticisms while elevating what makes the Forester great.
Key to that evolution is the brand's first-ever full-hybrid system. While still utilising a Boxer engine, the integration of the hybrid system is both effective and seamless. Hybridisation brings obvious fuel efficiency benefits, but there are also notable improvements in both performance and refinement. The Forester feels more urgent especially in the low-end, while the improved Lineartronic CVT is feels less elastic and has less of a typical CVT drone. And pleasingly, the buttery feeling of the Boxer engine (and accompanying soundtrack) still persists.
The Forester has gets a more refined exterior shell, while still retaining its rugged identity. The smaller headlights and sleek DRLs lend it a more sophisticated look.
Inside, the Forester's cabin has also seen thoughtful upgrades. Materials feel more premium, fit and finish have been sharpened, and tech features are more intuitive and generous. Thankfully, overall usability remains high, thanks to sensibly arranged controls and a user friendly digital interface.
Practicality, always a Forester strength, hasn't been compromised. Boot space remains generous, rear seating is comfortable, and the elevated driving position continues to provide excellent visibility — traits that Singaporean drivers appreciate for both daily use and family outings.
But it ultimately will come back to that new drivetrain. It very tangibly elevates the particular Forester experience in ways that feel only additive. The improvements in performance, refinement and efficiency mark a significant improvement for the model, and makes it our Most Improved Car of the Year. |

JMEV Elight Electric
Price: $159,777 - $165,777 Distributor: Valor Auto Pte Ltd

Task it to the Chinese to constantly rewrite the rules for a competent, budget-oriented runabout - and to constantly raise the bar of what to expect.
With its Elight sedan, Nanchang-headquartered JMEV proves that a practical electric car packing just the right amount of tech to satisfy the modern car-buyer doesn't have to be expensive and inaccessible. And while Chinese cars are mostly known for their price-competitiveness, the Elight does them all one better still; it's the cheapest electric sedan you can buy in Singapore today.
Not that you would know just by looking at the car.
While relying on a familiar and conventional three-box sedan shape, the Elight serves up just the right amount of intrigue with its sharp styling: With angular head and tail lamps that hug its front and rear ends respectively, as well as with flushed door handles that give its sheet metal a sleeker look. Entry-level sedans used come with halogen lights, but the Elight takes a confident step up instead with LED lights all around.
Despite clear signs of it being made on a budget (hard plastics are everywhere, for instance), the interior toes the line well between old-school functionality and new-school tech too. You get a full-digital instrument cluster, as well as a 14.6-inch touchscreen with wireless phone mirroring and a nifty 360-degree camera. But it's not just tech for the sake of tech; there are still (welcome) physical controls for the air-conditioning.
Best of all, the Elight is easy to live with because it scores highly in practicality. Its boot is well-sized at 410 litres. Its 2,750mm wheelbase lends itself to a spacious second row. And it has both sufficient power and driving range (rated at 460km), meaning you can zip around the city effortlessly, without worrying about charging too frequently.
Undeniably, 2025 continued to see an influx of new names (all Chinese) entering the Singapore market. Most of them certainly boast more of a wow factor than the Elight, with better power, more presence, and even longer feature lists. Amongst them all, however, the Elight's well-calibrated approach to fulfilling all of a modern buyer's needs for unbeatable value is impossible to deny or match. For that reason, it's been crowned as our Best Newcomer for 2025. |

BYD Sealion 7 Electric
Price: $196,888 - $236,388 Distributor: E-Auto

Is it any surprise that the Sgcarmart Car of the Year this year… is the best-selling model from the best-selling brand in Singapore in 2025? Nope, not really.
Yes, it is of course the BYD Sealion 7. Since it was first introduced at the 2025 Singapore Motor Show, the Sealion 7's popularity has been plain to see.
You've certainly encountered its distinctive 'X-shaped' face when commuting around, which headlines a sleek coupe-SUV silhouette. And standing at just 1,620mm tall, it's also less stilted than you may expect from a modern SUV.
Inside, the Sealion 7 packs a wealth of technology, features and functionality. A 15.6-inch infotainment display, ventilated seats, a PM2.5 filtration system, a panoramic glass roof, the list is really quite long.
But it is the execution that impresses. BYD may not position itself as a premium brand, but the Sealion 7 does reach into that premium space. It's less immediately flamboyant than some of its other stablemates, which allows the high quality materials to shine. It's also plenty spacious and comfortable.
There's a spread of powertrains available for the Sealion 7, from the modest 100kW model to the 390kW Performance variant. More important, though, is the car's comfort-leaning ride quality and general on-road sophistication. Tarmac imperfections are quietly swallowed up, allowing you to effortlessly and comfortably roll along on all your journeys.
And, arguably what has allowed BYD to make such rapid inroads into the car market is the value proposition of its products, and it's no different with this Sealion 7. It's packed full of features and amenities, delivers a wide suite of safety systems, is plenty comfortable and practical for families, and is stylish to boot.
It's no wonder it's the brand's best-selling model, and also quite comfortably Sgcarmart's Car of the Year 2025. |
