Johor police on the lookout for errant Singaporean drivers

As part of an ongoing operation codenamed, Ops Cantas Khas Trafik, police in Johor are in the lookout for errant Singaporean drivers with outstanding fines, reported The Straits Times.

According to State Police Chief, Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff, ten warrants had been issued so far against such drivers from the Republic, and the Singapore Police Force would be notified to aid with the search as well.

"We will use all means to track them down. We will also set up roadblocks along highways and major trunk roads and at the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex," said Mohd Mokhtar after launching a state level crime awareness day at Tesco Tebrau city on Saturday.

He warned drivers from Singapore who had received traffic summonses over the years to pay their fines or be prepared to be reprimanded. Since the launch of operations on November 25^th, the Malaysian police have collected almost RM150,000 (S$58,000) in fines from offenders.
