Kia Rio sedan to debut at New York Motor Show

The Kia Rio was launched in hatchback guise at the Geneva Motor Show last month, and Kia has now announced that the four-door version of their new compact car will debut at the upcoming New York Motor Show in April.

The latest Rio has grown considerable bigger than the outgoing model, and the sedan is expected to be similarly enlarged. The new Rio will therefore be offered in three different body styles for now, the five-door hatchback, four-door sedan, and a Europe-only three-door hatchback.

Kia has not revealed what engines will be offered for the Rio, but it is expected to have a range of three-cylinder and four-cylinder units producing from between 70 to 109bhp. One confirmed engine for the Rio is a 1.6-litre direct injection four-cylinder that produces 138bhp.
