The Agera R complements Koenigsegg's Agera supercar, which was launched almost exactly a year ago at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, and boasts of a twin-turbocharged 4.7-litre V8 that produces 910bhp and 1100Nm of torque, enabling it to rocket from 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed in excess of 390km/h.
As expected, the Agera R packs more power, with the twin-turbo V8 engine expanded to 5.0-litres, and capable of churning out an earth-shattering 1115bhp and 1200Nm of torque when fuelled with E85 biofuel. On standard 95-octane petrol the Agera R produces 940bhp and 1100Nm of torque, all of it is sent to the rear wheels via a new seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The Agera R also features what Koenigsegg calls Vortex Generating Rim (VGR) wheels, where the spokes of the rims act as turbine vanes to generate a turbine effect to help maximise downforce. Unique Michelin tyres were developed especially for the Agera R, and they hold a speed rating of 419km/h, the highest in the world according to Koenigsegg.
The show car at the Geneva show will also feature a unique customised carbon fibre roof box, developed by Swedish roof rack manufacturer Thule. The roof box is permanently attached as a single-piece to the roof panel, with the standard roof panel stored in the cargo compartment when not in use.
