Lamborghini Urus SE rolls into Singapore

Lamborghini's most popular model is the Urus and it's available in Urus S and Urus Performante variants. However, if you find these models 'underwhelming', then the new Urus SE might interest you.
Retailing at $1.15 million before COE and options, the Urus SE is the most powerful SUV ever produced by Lamborghini and it's also the first one with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Beneath its bonnet is a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 paired to an electric motor, and together, they produce 789bhp and a massive 950Nm of torque.
These figures are transmitted to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and with the traction from all-wheel drive, the SUV goes from a standstill to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Zero to 200km/h, on the other hand, is accomplished in 11.2 seconds.
In comparison, the Urus S and Urus Performante 'only' offer 657bhp and 850Nm of torque.
The Urus SE can also provide zero emissions motoring thanks to its electric motor that makes 189bhp and 483Nm of torque. Fed by a 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery, the Urus SE can cover over 60km solely on electric power.
When asked if any modifications were made to the Urus' platform to accommodate the second powertrain, Francesco Scardaoni, Region Director of Lamborghini Asia Pacific, replied that the platform was updated to accommodate the electric power unit.
He said, "We also heavily redesigned the all-wheel drive system with a new Centre Hang-On Differential and electronically controlled rear differential (Rear E-Differential). This lets us better distribute the torque from wheel to wheel, so we can provide the best driving experience possible."
The addition of a second 'heart' also resulted in more driving modes. Dubbed 'Electric Performance Strategies', they offer EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge, for a total of 11 settings.
Allowing the Urus SE to stand out is the new exterior styling. A new 'floating' bonnet, Matrix headlamps, plus a new bumper and front grille, differentiates the model from its siblings. At the rear, there's a new tailgate that features a taillight grille, too, along with a new bumper.
Speaking of taillights, these are now connected with Y-lines, a design element inspired by the Lamborghini Gallardo. Unseen, however, are the new underbody air vents. Together with the revamped air ducts, they provide a 15% improvement over the original Urus in cooling the engine and mechanical components.
Inside, Lamborghini has focussed on enhancing the cockpit's 'feel like a pilot' design. To this end, the infotainment screen is now a larger 12.3-inch unit, with a new version of the Human Machine Interface (HMI) that has updated graphics and is claimed to be more intuitive than before. Meanwhile, the mechanical push-button panel has supposedly been given a more tactile feel.
As usual, clients will be able to customise the Urus SE (or any Lamborghini model) through the carmaker's Ad Personam programme. More than 100 bodywork options are offered, and clients can also specify paint hues that the carmaker will then match.
For the interior, there are 47 colour combinations offered, together with four kinds of embroidery. Like the paintwork, customers can specify colours of their own choosing, which the Ad Personam programme can execute.
