Land Rover introduces advanced Ingenium diesel engine to the Discovery Sport

Land Rover has announced its innovative Ingenium diesel engine will be introduced to the Discovery Sport. Following its highly successful launch in May 2015, the premium compact sport utility vehicle will now be available with enhanced performance and economy. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine is available with one power output - 148bhp - delivering fuel economy of 17km/L and CO₂ emissions of 156g/km.

The powerful 148bhp engine has a top speed of 180km/h and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 10.3 seconds. The new aluminium TD4 engine features lightweight construction, with stiff cylinder blocks and decoupled injectors, which ensures low levels of vibration and noise intrusion, further enhancing the driver experience. A series of advanced technologies reduce internal friction, improve refinement and enhance overall performance.

In addition, Selective Catalytic Reduction and a new low pressure exhaust gas recirculation system significantly reduce both CO₂ and NOx emissions. The Ingenium-powered Discovery Sport will also be designated as an 'E-Capability' vehicle. E-Capability will apply to both five-seat and seven-seat models fitted with the 148bhp Ingenium engine, with 18-inch wheels and low rolling resistance tyres. Additionally, the final drive gearing and engine calibrations have been optimised to provide the lowest possible CO₂ for the vehicle.
