Lexus GS coupe set for stage in 2013
31 May 2012|5,603 views
We first heard word of a coupe variant for the Lexus GS lineup under a year ago but that news soon faded away. Just as the news was getting cold, fresh new details have emerged on the said coupe variant, with a slated launch date of Q1 2013. Lexus is ambitiously expanding their line-up in an attempt to retake top-spot as the best selling premium brand in the US and the latest development backs up our previous report. The model will fill the void left by the SC 430 that ended production in July 2010 and will compete against the Audi S5, BMW 6-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe.
The powertrain options would be inherited from the existing GS range, but the top performing GS450h may not be enough with its 338 bhp. This has thus resulted in wide speculations that the coupe variant will arrive exclusively as the GS-F with an upgraded engine that is based on the LFA's 4.8-litre V10 unit.
If everything pans out as reported, Q1 2013 is not far away.
