Lotus Elise & Exige RGB Special Editions honours ex-Director of Engineering

RGB stands for Roger G. Becker, and the new special editions honours the former Director of Vehicle Engineering at Lotus, who is announcing his retirement from the UK sports car maker after 44 years with the company.

The Elise SC RGB features ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels, sport and touring packages, air conditioning, monochrome Lotus badges, an individually numbered plaque, and Roger Becker's signature on B-pillar. It is powered by a supercharged 1.8-litre engine which pumps out 217bhp, and is able to go from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

The Exige S RGB meanwhile, has the same equipment as the Elise RGB model, but has a structural shear panel which increases lateral stiffness to the rear sub-frame by 30 percent. The Exige RGB's 1.8-litre supercharged engine puts out 257bhp, which sends the car rocketing from 0-100km/h in "around 4 seconds."

According to Becker, "I am honoured that Lotus has named these two special editions after me, especially as it allows me to offer the customer my favourite specifications. The past 44 years have been an incredible journey and I'm looking forward to watching Lotus progress in the future, I have no doubt that the company will continue to go from strength to strength."
