Loyang Avenue to see new bus depot

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will build a bus depot off Loyang Avenue to provide SBS Transit with sufficient capacity for additional buses. The Loyang depot will be located along Loyang Avenue and Pasir Ris Drive 3.
It will be the second depot to be funded and constructed by the Government as part of its policy to provide financial aid to bus operators.
Last month, the LTA announced that it would build a depot for SMRT in Jurong West. It noted that existing SBS depots and bus parks were reaching full capacity. The new facilities are thus needed to accommodate new buses being added under the $1.1 billion Bus Service Enhancement Programme.
Like the first depot off Jurong West Avenue 2, the Loyang bus depot will be completed in 2015. The facilities will each hold about 500 buses.
On top of the two depots, the LTA has developed and handed over two bus parks which can accommodate about 200 to 300 buses each.
