LTA announces COE supply for upcoming quarter

The LTA has announced the upcoming supply of COEs for the period from November 2023 to January 2024, and there's good news for all looking to secure a car: The quota supply is set to go up in the coming quarter.
The total number of COEs available will be 12,774, higher than the total quota of 11,319 made available for this outgoing quarter.
The total COE supply for Cat B for the upcoming quarter will total 2,937, an increase from the 2,816 COEs available this quarter
The total COE supply for Cat A cars (up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, or electric cars up to 110kW) in the coming quarter will hit a total of 4,967, up from the total supply this quarter of 4,085. The new supply for the period from November 2023 to January 2024 includes a total of 1,570 COEs brought forward from the guaranteed de-registrations scheduled to happen in the 12-month period from October 2022 to September 2023.
Total supply for the quarter for Cat B, meanwhile, will hit 2,937, an increase of the 2,816 supply offered during the outgoing quarter. Cat B sees an additional 325 COEs being brought forward from the guaranteed de-registrations. Total supply for Cat E will also see a rise in the upcoming quarter, reaching a total of 841, compared to the total supply of 777 seen in the outgoing quarter.
COE supply for commercial vehicles for the quarter will reach a total of 924, up from the 684 COEs made available in the outgoing quarter. The category will continue to see a 0.25% per annum growth based on the vehicle population of the category as at 31 December 2022.
The LTA emphasises that this new COE quota for the period from November 2023 to January 2024 is 13% higher than the outgoing quarter, while the quota for Category A is 22% higher than the previous quarter and 81% higher than the same quarter last year.
It also states that the upcoming quota for Category C is 35% higher than the previous quarter and 124% higher than the same quarter last year. The authority also states that the COE quota for Categories A, B and C are expected to continue to increase in 2024.
