LTA awards three contracts for future MRT stations on Thomson Line

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded three construction firms civil contracts, worth $1.09 billion, to build three MRT stations - Sin Ming, Havelock and Marina Bay - on the Thomson Line. Construction for these stations are expected to begin by the first quarter of 2014 with projected completion dates in 2020 for Sing Ming station and 2021 for Havelock and Marina Bay stations.
Japanese firm, Penta-Ocean Construction Co, will design and build the Sin Ming station and its associated tunnels. The firm was also responsible for the construction of Expo station on the East-West Line along with Yew Tee and Kranji stations on the North-South Line.
Hong Kong firm, Gammon Construction Limited Singapore Branch, was awarded a $210 million contract to build the Havelock station. The firm is also currently constructing the Mayflower station on the Thomson Line.
Taisei Corporation, another Japanese contractor, was awarded a $425 million contract to build Marina Bay station and its tunnels. Its past portfolio includes building four stations on the Circle Line and more recently, the Downtown station on the Downtown Line.
The Thomson Line will have 22 stations, plying from Woodlands to Gardens by the Bay, where it will connect to the Eastern Region Line in the future. The 30km line is scheduled to be completed in three phases, from 2019 to 2021.
