LTA's new app shows cabs in the vicinity
17 Dec 2014|1,187 views
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has launched a new app to help commuters get taxis. However, unlike third party taxi booking apps, the new app does not allow passengers to book a cab.
Instead, the app, dubbed Taxi-Taxi@SG, will only show if there are available cabs in the vicinity.
LTA said in a statement that this information can help commuters decide if they should continue waiting for a cab on the street, walk to another location with more cabs, book a cab or make alternative transport arrangements.
At the same time, the app will help taxi drivers locate commuters who are looking for cabs. It will also have information on all 28,000 taxis registered in Singapore, instead of just those that are signed up with a particular app.
