Lunaz reveals new electrified Range Rover

Lunaz has delivered a 1983 open-top short wheelbase Range Rover Safari that follows in the vein of the car driven by James Bond in the 1983 film Octopussy.
The car has been given a 375bhp electric powertrain, and Lunaz has upgraded the car with adjustable dampers and bespoke springs, six and four-piston disc brakes at the front and rear wheels respectively, as well as a regenerative braking system, all to manage the vehicle's additional power. Despite the new electric powertrain, the Range Rover Safari has retained its 500mm wading depth alongside its original approach, breakover and departure angles.
The car has also received structural improvements to its body and chassis to maintain its structural strength without a roof, while its exterior coachwork remains identical to the original. The body of the car has also been finished in a one-off Maya Blue finish with a dark blue mohair convertible hood, as specified by the client.
The interior, meanwhile, is said to have seen the most extensive development process of any car from Lunaz. It is not only now unrecognisable from the original, complete with significant ergonomic and technological improvements, but has also informed a further 50 build slots of electric Range Rover Classics from Lunaz.
On the special Range Rover Safari, the dashboard has been completely replaced by a new 3D printed console which was developed over a two-year period. The new dashboard, finished in rich Mocca Walnut wood and a weatherproof satin lacquer, integrates an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-enabled infotainment screen which is also the display for the reversing camera and houses the digital controls for the air-conditioning and heating system.
This dashboard design will also feature in all future electric Range Rovers elevated by Lunaz.
Both the driver and passenger seats of the Range Rover Safari also feature proprietary padding materials developed for Lunaz' upcycled Rolls-Royce and Bentley models, and utilise soft but hardwearing leather that incorporates the brand's signature fluting which is made from an innovative waterproof and chlorine-resistant textile that is said to recall the hardwearing jackets used on sporting estates.
