Lunaz - the famous firm converting classic cars to run on electric power - has unveiled a new customer commission: A 1952 Jaguar XK120.
Handed over at the Concours on Savile Row in London, U.K., this car is said to be a world-first for a project of this type: Its leather-free interior is instead made up of ocean clean-up materials.
The seats in this Jaguar XK120 are upholstered in a high quality fabric, with the driver's seat getting a black stripe for an added sporty touch The carpets in this car, for example, are made up of reclaimed nylon sea-fishing nets, while the backing of these carpets is made from marine plastic pollution including plastic bottles.
And being a car headed for Savile Row, this leather-free interior is paired along with a host of innovative textiles, alongside traditional woods and other upcycled materials. The seat frames here for example, are constructed of recyclable aluminium, and upholstered in a high-quality fabric.
Burr Walnut veneer wood is also employed in the cabin, here given a contemporary aesthetic through a satin lacquer. This special interior is complemented by a bespoke Obsidian Blue exterior colour-scheme, painted in-house at Lunaz' home in Silverstone, U.K.
The firm states that its engineers have also integrated the latest infotainment and audio technology into the vehicle, via the discreet placement of a screen installed with Apple CarPlay to operate the client's preferred navigation and music streaming apps.
This new bespoke Jaguar comes only months after Lunaz hit the news for building an electric 1954 Jaguar XK140, which was upcycled and electrified before being presented as a marriage gift by Football Star David Beckham to his son and new daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz.
