Man knocks down teacher girlfriend, killing her

31-year old Logistics driver Liu Zhongwei was charged yesterday for causing death of his girlfriend two weeks ago.

The accident took place at a carpark in Jurong on the 14^th earlier this month, where the Chinese national allegedly drove his car into his girlfriend, who was standing in front of it.

32-year old Kindergarten Teacher Li Minna died from the accident. Liu is also suspected to have fled the scene after knocking down the woman.

Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported that the couple knew each other as neighbours and classmates from Changchun, China, and started dating when they met again in Singapore a year ago. It is believed that the couple stays in a flat in Jurong since March.

If Liu is found guilty, he faces a jail term of up to five years, or fine, or both.
