McLaren has unveiled a new 750S, a car which is said to take the renowned performance of the 720S to new heights.
This 750S is available as both a coupe and spider, and McLaren states that close to 30% of its components are either new or have been modified from the 720S, all with an eye of heightening the driving experience.
These changed pieces include the use of carbon fibre-shelled racing seats, 10-spoke ultra-lightweight forged wheels (the lightest ever fitted as standard on a series-production McLaren), a new driver instrument display, as well as a new windscreen glass.
These changes drop the weight of the McLaren 750S down to just 1,389kg, or 30kg less than the 720S. This weight, however, can be further dropped to 1,277kg with all the available carbon fibre and lightweight options selected.
The 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine of the 750S has also had its output upgraded, so it now stands at 740bhp. Peak torque, meanwhile, is now 800Nm. The corresponding figures for the 720S are 710bhp and 770Nm.
This power will see the McLaren 750S hitting 100km/h from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds, while the sprint to 200km/h is done in 7.2 seconds. Opt for the spider and this latter figure is 7.3 seconds.
McLaren has additionally tweaked its Proactive Chassis Control linked-hydraulic suspension of the 750S, while the suspension springs are softer at the front and stiffer at the rear than in the 720S.
This will work with aerodynamic upgrades that include a lower nose section and extended front splitter, narrower 'eye socket' intakes that enclose the head lights, amongst other changes. The revisions at the rear meanwhile include a lengthened rear deck, designed to channel air towards the raised and lengthened active rear wing positioned above the centrally positioned exhaust.
The McLaren 750S also gets new features including Apple CarPlay, while a new Central Information Screen now delivers even more detailed graphics. A new vehicle-lift system also now raises the front of the 750S in only four seconds compared to the 10 seconds it takes in the 720S.
The McLaren 750S is now available to order from McLaren retailers worldwide.
